Yeah, but he wants to keep the Ivolver concept of DJ meets producer going on this one aswell I think. Which is cool because Sasha hasnt had any really good productions out since, well, the Involver remix packages.

I'll be calling my next mix Drop Deeper and lose the 2 though... :p

Again, that's cool - but look at the track record for "series" of mix compilations. I can't think of one that's ever been consistently "good," and certainly not "great." You know?

I don't know - I guess I'm just not a fan of "sequels" period. I tend to think they inhibit, rather than reinforce, creativity.

I'm certainly not writing this off before I hear it, I just choose to remain skeptical until I've heard the finished product ;)

While they both have some of the highest % of quality releases, they aren't without their rubbish as well.

Chris Fortier comes quickly to mind...

Also - when I'm skeptical and my expectations are far exceeded, I tend to be far more happy. :)

I know many of you will probably lol, but a perfect example for me is Datt's remix of the Solid Globe tune. I was expecting the absolute worst, and was pleasantly suprised with a tune I've really, really come to enjoy (though I realize that on TA, I'm in the minority on that one :p).

whatever bro, listen to what u want...*looks at the infamous Idoru quote*

Involver was a ing gem, still listen to it constantly...Involver 2? it shud be damn good but i'm not gonna get my hopes up to high, because passing up the first Involver quality wise will be tough to achieve.

Is it really hard for some to believe that Sasha can't surpass his previous efforts? I mean c'mon, give him some credit :p

No one's doubting the mans abilities - I just don't think it's wise of ANYONE to set expectations as high as they'll be for Involver 2, it instantly invites comments along the lines of "Well, not as good as the first one...", even though it may be an exceptional piece of work in its own right.

If the inevitable comparisons between the two render the second as somehow inferior to the first, people may get stuck on that single point and not base their opinions on what really matters: the piece itself.

And I'm not saying it's going to be you fellows doing this either - it's the uneducated masses I'm concerned with.

:)

Well I dunno about everyone else, but I always take each Sasha mix for what it is...without comparing to his other stuff.

The thing that I love most about his sets is that they always get better over time, instead of the opposite. I'll sometimes have to listen to a mix 5-6 times before I really "get it" and see where he was going with it.

And even with all the help he gets in the studio/with ableton/on tour, in the words of one of his closest engineers "When he gets up there and starts mixing, thats all him putting the tracks together, deciding where to go and how to get there..."
