uh...NO. Respect is earned.
|
Really? I don't think so.
When everyday, ordinary interactions take place on a basis of disrespect and mutual doubt of one another, how does that help anything?
Automatic respect for other people doesn't mean turning a blind eye to disrespectful behaviours or trusting people against your better judgement. It is simply giving people the benefit of the doubt (with an obvious measure taken for your own personal safety). |

I'm with you on that one.
I call it "professional courtesy". It entitles everybody to polite interaction and a basic level of respect so that interaction can be useful and productive.
It is absolutely essential to operate on a basis of professional courtesy in the business world and most would find useful in their personal lives as well.
If one can't give a person professional courtesy then one best just avoid that person all together. |

I agree with you 100%. But in my opinion there is a huge difference between respect and "professional courtesy". In my dealings with people both in business and person interactions it starts with courtesy and goes from there. |
