but only cause factor5 is doing it. the bring the whole package with their previous rogue squadron games. this could be a killer. at 1080p it would be the greatest screensaver in the world| |

I'm still looking to buy my first new game for the PS3 haha.
I've had mine since January, and have only been using it for BD! No games really interested me...I recently picked up NBA 2007 last week because I saw it for $20.00 used at EB, which I thought was a great deal.
...want some good RPGs to come out soon! |

Oh , welcome to the gaming forum man.
Yeah, the salesguy at EB told me that PS3 is actually the cheapest BluRay Disc player on the market right now.
I also recently read an article that Blockbuster is choosing BluRay over HD-DVD.
Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I love it! GO SONY! |

That man is right, for now. I hear by this holiday season, the blu-ray diode will drop drastically in production costs, resulting in a possible 50% reduction in price of Blu-ray players. Meaning they will drop from about $1000 to around $500.
But for now, the PS3 is the best deal in the ing world. think of it this way...a blu-ray player is $1000, right? The PS3 is $600. so, essentially, sony sold you a blu-ray player for $400 less AND gave you a PS3 for FREE! Oh and a PS2 and a PS1. |

yeah, i'm a huge HD nerd lol so i've been doing lots of reading and stuff on other forums about the Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD battle.
The PS3 is by far the best BD player. It's the cheapest and there is a general consensus that it is the best as well. Hell, you can get the 20GB PS3 for like $599 or whatever which is a pretty good deal for a BD player.
Yeah, the clerk at EB was like, holy crap, this game is $45 cheaper then the buying it new. That the one thing i like about EB is that they have a great selection of used games and you can an EB card for 10% off used games. They also have insurance for like $1.50 or something that guarantees the game will work for like a year. Some good stuff! |

It's 60Gb for $599. The 20Gb is no longer available. In Korea there's an 80GB model.
That stuff about EB is major kickass. I think I'll have to get one of those EB cards myself.
I have a couple of PS3 n00b questions:
1. I don't have an HD TV. If I were to buy a Blu-Ray movie and watched it on my regular TV thru the PS3, would there be much difference compared to a DVD?
2. Is it possible to connect an external USB hard drive to the PS3? |

I don't have one, but these are my theoretical answers.
1. No, there will be little to no difference in quality to a DVD. That's if it even displays at all, I've read that you need component or hdmi to play blu-ray, and it could play 480i (standard tube resolution) and I've also read that it will downscale to be able to play over the composite cables, but there would be no reason to buy the Blu-Ray discs imo unless you were just building a BD collection for a future purchase of an HDTV.
2. Yes. http://boards.1up.com/zd/board/mess...ading games etc |

I've only had my PS3 for a week and know little about what's out, but Resistance: Fall of Man is really badass. Ninja Gaiden also has a lot of potential for damn sure. |
