I think this game will sell magnificently, if only because it is the FIRST PS3 game to hit store shelves since the week of December 8th if you disclude the abysmal Sonic that came out last week and approx. 2 downloads on the PS Network. PS3 needs more games, and it looks like VF5 will lead the ing pack. Every week from here on through May has at least 1-2 games hitting shelves. Bout ing time. |

I bought Virtua Fighter 5 last night. I've never really been a fan of the series, but I've read enough reviews of the game and it sounds like it will be a winner. I haven't played it yet though.
I also reserved a copy of MotorStorm, which isn't too far from release either. PlayStation 3 has finally arrived and is starting take off. |

| MotorStorm is one of the most badass racing games I've ever played, period. Still yet to play VF 5 though. |

MotorStorm Review:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/768/768820p1.html
Verdict: 8.9
Only detractors to the score would be lack of options. Apparently the game itself is among the most amazing racing games ever made. Good news if you ask me. The PS3 needs some killer apps. |

The screenshots for that game are RETARDED!!! :eyespop: Sick ass graphics!!
I have yet to start saving for me PS3. :( Hard to do when I get paid on a weekly basis. Not only that but the only game I want for PS3 (for now) is Metal Gear Solid 4 and it's not even out yet. :( I still want this system though...I am a Sony whore after all lol. |

It's better to wait anyway, since then by the time you get a PS3, a library of games will be fully-established, blu-ray will have unleashed plenty of titles, and also several firmware updates will have been released that will inevitably fix many of the problems that the PS3 may have right now. To be honest, I dont think the PS3 has that many more problems, but I can tell you for sure that the Playstation Network is probably going to undergo a lot of changes for the better. |

So PS3 has upgradeable firmware just like PSP, eh? Was never aware of that, chief. Hopefully the updates will help, indeed. |

Unfortunately it's been the other way around. The 360's head start and lower price are the 2 major players on that one. However, I see the PS3 having a lot more longevity. For now, the HD buffs will grab one and drop their jaws in awe at the amazing visuals...then in 3 years, everyone else will pick one up once they finally get their HDTV and the price drops. |

So for those of you who think the PS3's online interface is a little bare-boned right now, or for those of you who think the lack of achievements is a real bummer....you're in for a surprise.
Playstation Home
Sony's answer to WiiConnect and Xbox Live
http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=2185
And
http://kotaku.com/gaming/sony/rumor...home-240746.php
We just received a very interesting tip that, while juicy and quite believable, we're labeling as rumor for now. As you are probably well aware, GDC executive director Jamil Moledina set Sony's Phil Harrison up for the spike yesterday, claiming that PLAYSTATION 3 owners will be "very happy" when Phil's keynote takes place next week.
Could the PlayStation Home, Sony's blending of achievements and Miis be that big surprise?
While the rumor seems to make sense, keep in mind while reading through it that it came from an anonymous source and that the half-dozen development studios we spoke with hadn't heard a thing about it.
Sony, when contacted earlier today, said they do not comment on rumors or speculation.
Playstation Home sounds like it could be an interesting, lo-fi, killer app, as described by our source.
Basically, you get to make an avatar for your console (like a Mii) and this avatar has a room. As you play games and accomplish certain tasks, you will receive items with which to adorn the room that are specific to the game (achievements). The kicker is that this is going to be a new requirement for every PS3 game...
This also sounds kind of like it could fulfill the promise Sony made at last year's GDC keynote to bring social networking to the PS3.
So we move from product based to service based, starting with packaged product augmented by downloadble content. We'll enhance this with social networks, the MySpace experience, this will be a key part of the PlayStation3 going forward. What brings it to life is the voice chat, the text chat, the video, the social features we're building in for the future.
Rooting around some recent (and not so recent) comments from Sony spokespeople, we find some things that might just validate this.
From Phil's recently published DICE interview with Newsweek editor N'Gai Croal comes this tidbit, following a discussion on the "lo-fi" approach Nintendo took with their Mii avatars:
"If you are going to have an avatar which is your representative in a virtual world, it has to stand for more of your personality than some 2-D cartoons. So while I think that millions of people would be happy with cartoony looks, the planet at large probably isn't. And it's an experiment that will be played out very soon, actually."
From Dutch gaming site Next Generation Gamer comes this choice quote from an unidentified Sony rep:
"We have something big coming up for the PlayStation Network, but I can't say anything about that yet. It has something to do with the Home Button on the SIXAXIS controller, and with the community."
Again, this is rumor. Our source continues to remain anonymous. Sony could be announcing the robust set of social features it has been touting for a long time, ones that go beyond voice and video chat, and tap into the collective and competitive feature sets that helped make both Xbox Live and Animal Crossing a hit with gamers.
Realize that the article I copied and pasted above is a week older than the trailer that's before it, so that 'big surprise' you read about has actually already been revealed...
So basically a quick rundown on what this is...an entirely virtual world. You create a person, you visit other people, chat with other people (either via text or video), you play small arcade games with people, you play PS3 games with other people, you win trophy's (soo basically PS3 IS getting achievements unlike previously thought), and so and so forth. You can share videos, share MP3's, share files off PSP's, share files off your PS3 hard drive....My god the possibilities are ing endless. I'm not sure if you are seeing this people, but Sony has something big on their hands here. At least thats what I'm getting out of this. Very interesting to see what happens as a result. |
