How can you state that ghost recon sucks if you never played it? Have you even played the latest versions on the 360. They are excellent games. Socom is a great game too. an excellent franchise that seemed to come out of nowhere. They're both targeted at two completely different audiences. |
I never said I never played it, nor am I in any way implying that Ghost Recon is bad. Im a proud owner of Ghost Recon Gold Edition for the PC, and Ive played several multiplayer matches of GRAW on my buddy's 360. I just think SOCOM is better. Thats all. :) |

And FYI, the list of PS3 exclusive titles right now is essentially empty. 90% of what's showing up on PS3 WILL be showing up on the 360 at the same time - The other %10 will undoubtedly make it's way to 360 when developers realize that the PS3 isn't making them any money and is an absolute **** to develop for.
I'm sure many of you will think this a standard "anti-Sony" response - But nothing I've said is speculation; it's fact.
Sony made a massive error with their approach to PS3 - Those of you who can't seem to bring yourselves to acknowledge it in the face of the evidence given are merely telling yourselves lies. |
Analysts Predict A Solid Holiday for the PS3
Sony will likley see repectable sales in 2006.
by Micah Seff
January 5, 2007 - Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that Nintendo's newest console, the Wii, has surpassed previous sales estimates by analyst group Lazard Capital. The console has likely sold over 1.2 million units in the US in its first six weeks on store shelves.
"Our checks indicate that Nintendo's Wii console continues to sell well, while Sony's PS3 supplies improved somewhat towards the end of the holiday period," said Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital.
Competitors Sony and Microsoft saw similarly successful holidays in 2006. Sony's new PlayStation 3 is assumed to have sold around 700,000 units, while Lazard Capital predicts that Microsoft's Xbox 360 will have just reached 4.5 million consoles in North America by December 30.
The same firm also predicted that US software sales will have increased by five percent in December, compared to 2005, "driven by incremental sales for next-generation software and ongoing solid PS2 and DS game sales."
The analyst group went on to divulge Gamestop's top-five selling games for the holiday season: Guitar Hero 2, WWE Smackdown Vs RAW 2007, Gears of War, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Sebastian also predicted the performance of America's three biggest game publishers. The analyst group expects THQ to see an increase in sales of 20 percent from 2005, EA to endure a decline of 10 percent, and Activision to remain equal.

Ok - And? Nothing in that article says anything about how well developers for Sony are faring - In fact, this article is actually pretty solid support for my position.
It states:

Giving them undoubtedly the smallest market share in the U.S. - Not a pretty sight (particularly financially) for developers.
It's little things like this that are in fact losing Sony's exclusive developmental deals. |

If they continue to sell 700,000 units each month this year, that's a total of 8.4 million units in a year. 360 is approaching that with a little over a year behind it (worldwide). Wii already has an estimated 4 million sold worldwide, and that's only going on the second month.
Micro$oft is going to lose the top spot on market share by fall of '07. It may not be Sony in the drivers seat this time, but I think the 360 is going to be banished to the back seat during this console cycle. |

Were you expecting the PS3 to sell 10 million units in the span of 1.5 months?
Also, look at it this way. When was the last time you heard the Gamecube mentioned? How about the original Xbox? The answer is...never. They are both DEAD. With the small exception of Zelda on Gamecube (which should hardly count since the game is pretty much now meant to be considered a Wii title), there is absoluetely nothing worth mentioning on either of those 2 consoles. But the PS2? The oldest console of those 3? Its still alive and kicking. And kicking so hard its actually dominating the xbox 360. I think a big reason the 360 has been received so well is because all the same people who bought Xbox's bought 360's, since MS made it public that they were abondoning their first console ever back in 2005.
The people who normally buy into Sony products are STILL playing their PS2's. In other words, PS3's predecessor is kicking the PS3's ass! Wait a year or 2 when the PS2 has finally laid to rest and the PS3 is the center of attention when it comes to Sony consoles.
But, if you ARE talking about the situation from a financial perspective, you have a point. However, back in early 2001, 3rd party developers sent massive complaints to Sony saying that their PS2 games werent making them enough money. Namco comes to mind...I think they mentioned that Ridge Racer V was the slowest selling Ridge Racer of all time (at the time). But of course, look where the PS2 is now.
Its all about the transition, baby. Its not like the whole world is going to jump on the PS3 bandwagon all at once.
Since you seemed to bitch at me for some reason on how I dont backup information, if you really want me to get links for this , I will. but not now, considering I have some G13 waiting for me that needs to be smoked. a link to that last part about 3rd party devlopers complaining about PS2 might be tough to find, considering I read that in a early 2001 EGM issue.
Oh and also:

Actually, it happened in the first post. And it was a gimp PS3 fanboy like yourself who did it. |
I didnt even realize this the first time. Would you mind telling me how my 1st post was fanboyish or disregarding of other people's opinions in ANY way, please? Seriously. Was it because I called the 360 Core useless? A point that is made by gaming message boards across the entire internet because it is essentially a marketing gimmick created by Microsoft to enable them the ability to make more money off accessories such as memory cards...

Well said, and that the thing. No body is saying the PS3 is a bad system, its just a matter of transition. just like the 360. Its taken a year for people to move over the more powerful console. it takes time, people aren't just going to get up and buy a new system.
oh and if your wondering about the ps3 sales:
