Highlight of the Night : Seeing a lot of friends who I haven't seen in a while thanks for making it a great night !
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion...
I'm a person hard to please when it comes to Dj sets... to this day, i still feel Danny Tenaglia, Marco V & John 00 Flemming are the best DJs I have ever heard & seen live in my life experiences as a clubber & edm fanatic(of course this is all my opinion keep in mind beauty is in the eye of the beholder). What do these DJ's have in commen? Years & Years & Years of Dancefloor experience. To be totally honest, Yes I enjoyed SVD's Set , I appreciated the support by his fans (including me), and the vibe was defintely there ! For those of you who werent there this is how it all began Dave Spoon - At Night into -> Tribalish/Electro House/Tech?/Bangin stuff i cant name , then all of a sudden some melodic minimal track that was kind of off program of the set quickly picking it back up to par with his original production "Grasshopper". Then some more Electro, Tech & Trance. He was really working the crowd big time - I can already see from the reactions of the crowd the future holds a lot of bright things for Sander in New York City.
Complaints : It got way too crowded in there after about 1 Am, a lot of pushing & shoving. Another thing that bothered me was that Sander had to just fade out the "Are You Fine" abruptly for Second Sun to totally kill the vibe for me (at least they could have let the whole track play until it ended). Honestly I respect Second Sun as artists & producers I really enjoyed Second Sun's pop-trance album, I have to admit they have some really catchy tunes & vocals. Everyonelse (the commercial crowd) seemed fine with the transition though, but I feel all of us true EDM heads here on TA felt the same way about the whole experience. As for Markus Shultz, I missed out (due to my friend wanting to leave).. All in all , I had a great night !
So what was your experience like ? |

Just got home a bit ago.
TBH, I was pretty unimpressed with the music in the main room. Plus, it was ridiculously hot and it smelled terribly bad.
The locals really threw it down in the basement. Got there just when Andrew was about to drop The Martin Brothers' "Stoopit". His set was very consistent, as was Al's (DeepSpell). Good job boys!
Left right after Al got off the decks.
Great to see a lot of faces I haven't seen in a bit. Glad I could be of service, Kelly!;) |

i thought that the transition was great. loved the live aspect ! Second Sun rocked!
The locals rocked it too. Love Alter Image!
Has anyone seen another live act at pacha aside from Second Sun? |

| So is this where the reviews for Second Sun and Markus will be also, or do you NYCTAs make threads for each DJ? If not, give S.S. and M.S. some respect by at least putting them on the thread title as well. |

It was awesome meeting everyone! Definitely one of the best nights I've ever had. Came @ around 11:30 or so when Sander dropped his edit of Black is the Colour. Man was he tearing it up!!!!!! I have never felt so hyped, tune after tune! Only problem was that it was too early and my energy drained much faster than i had wished. Will talk about more of how i felt later in another post since i really need some sleep.
I'll hold on posting the tracklist that i came up with till after all the reviews and stuff so it won't spoil the fun. (unless anyone wants me to just drop what i have lol) :) But for now! Time to pass out! |

Props to the guys from AlterImage getting the energy up fast in the main room, set Sander up perfectly to bang it out from the start which he did with absolute perfection. Though I admit it was still a little too early in the night for me to go as crazy as I would have liked (didn't stop me during Direct Dizko though :P)...I really wanted to see Sander in a later time slot. I can't even imagine how destructive his set would have been had he played the last time slot. Next time I guess...
Second Sun just...their timing was awful, the vibe the place had going just kind of died and I just immediatly lost interest and went down stairs to listen to the guys and gal of AlterImage. I figured SS would do 'Crush' as their final song, which they didnt, oh well. My favorite part of this section of the evening was when they yelled out, "Do you want one more?!" and it was half "NO!"s. I laughed pretty hard.
Markus...whoa. Really stepped it up tonight. Awesome opening track, loved the little 'Louder' tease. He got the energy back in the room that it had been lacking for the past hour in a couple seconds. Loved every second of his set. Was nice to hear 'Never Be The Same Again' live finally, sounded gorgeous :)
EDIT: Another thing worth mentioning was how Sander's mixing got better as it went on. Later in his set he was throwing tracks into gear a lot quicker. :) |

:( my girlfriend ate something bad yesterday and was throwing up all night, AND stayed awake, so there was no way i could go and leave her there :( i'm very pissed i didn't make it, you have no idea!!! arghh.... judging from Jayoza's review, i was kind of happy i didn't shell out 30$ on this one (sounds like he didn't bang it out proper with the tech and trance, but did his electro-ish thing) but then reading johnnypmo's review, with him mentioning "direkt dizko", now i'm kinda taking that back (i'm wondering what songs he played after and before that, so he musta been bangin it out)! hope to have him back here in the city!

hehe You'd be surprised. Mac and Mac - Rippin Base (OMGGGGGGGGG tore up the place!), Scott Mac - Damager (Lee Osborne Mix), and Arctic Monkeys - Sun Goes Down SVD Bootleg are only some of the bombs he threw down last night. WOOF |
