| I've just realized my parents don't have diamond rings. No, this isn't a joke. I've just realized it and now I feel weird. |

I'm ignoring your gender exclusion, so:
The setting & stone are classic & great--just not a huge fan of the band on the ring, itself.
the wedding band is awesome, though. Very nice.
and princess cut ftw. |

| A diamond is pure carbon with the atoms bonded so that each is surrounded tetrahedrally by 4 others. A diamond is valuable because it consists of a single crystal with atoms arranged in a specific way. |

My cousin always said diamonds are a waste of money. Even though hes loaded he bought his gf a beautiful engagement ring made of CZ. He told her she can leave if she doesnt like it. |
your cousin is awesome. |

Does anyone know what people used or did to represent that they were married before diamond rings were the fad?
I personally would like to have a ring simply for what it represents, however, it doesn't need to be some super fancy and shiny rock...
P.S. I HATE yellow gold.... hate hate hate it. With my pale skin and freckles, yellow gold looks awful on me. |

well, after a bit of research, it seems that that was a looooooooooooooooooooong time ago (the practice started either in ancient rome or ancient egypt...there's a debate, I guess), so probably something really primitive. |

I actually do like diamonds when they're worn more simply. I don't go for really flashy . I have a pair of diamond studs, and a diamond pendant that my bf bought me. This is pretty much exactly what my pendant looks like, only my chain is different:

I do a lot of stuff with my hands, and nursing requires that I wear as little jewelry as possible (none at all is preferable)...so big fancy rings and are out of the question for me. If and when I get married, a simple gold band will do just fine.
Actually no...I also have a promise ring and another band with 10 small diamonds in it that my bf also bought me. Totally forgot about those, heh. |

| I was on Tiffany's website and was checking out some diamond stuff which reminded me of this thread. I said to myself, " wtf are people saying..these are nice " ,and ordered something. |

That made me give a hearty laugh in real life. You seem like a class kind of gal. |

I'm really not you see, I'd wear a ring-a-lo on my finger if my boyfriend gave it to me.
I'm always on Tiffany's looking at stuff I really can't afford right now, but sometimes a lady needs to spoil herself. |
