i like the kind with color in them though...more artsy looking. like sapphire or rubies...the lighter rubies that look dark pink instead of red.

I don't mind yellow gold in earings or chains or whatever, but I would only ever get a diamond set in a white metal. They look so much better in it.

yeah, they were pretty bad examples. i found some better ones...

i love the top one though.. the contrast of the squared band with the round diamond looks really dramatic.

If the band was thinner or the rock was bigger it would look a lot better. Doesn't really 'pop' like a diamond ring should.

See that IS really nice, but it's just too much in terms of flashiness, just so unnecessary. All the litte ones around the big one take away the beauty of it. OH and +1 on a little color.

And I looked at the gold products that you said to and it's tacky! The chains may not be THAT bad, but wtf is with the awful pendants and such hanging off of them? Especially the first one you posted from bebe, wtf is up with all the junk collected on it. I LOVE bebe styles but that.. something went wrong there.
Slylee
yea i know, i dont' necessarily like the pendants, they're tacky...like i said, i just like the idea of layering w/ the gold...and having very thin chains is crucial when layering;)

yeah the band is kinda thick. ideally i'd want something thinner because i have really skinny fingers and i hate clunky jewelry... but those are just examples of the kind of style i like. obviously there's a ton of styles out there and you can usually customize the hell out of them.

i think the tension setting makes enough of a statement that it doesn't really need to "pop"... it's a little more subdued and laid back, but still very classy and a little bit techno... just like me. :thepirate

White gold isnt a gold on its own. It is yellow gold mixed in with alloys to make it a white colour. Then it is dipped in rhodium, the stuff swarovski makes their jewellery out of. White gold has to be redipped every 2 years b/c the yellow gold colour comes out and it isnt as white anymore.

Personally I think diamonds are beautiful. When I got engaged I loved looking. I have a small diamond compared to NY standards  but it looks great on my small finger and we werent about to go into debt before marriage, b/c that is not a good start. We also wanted to do travelling as well. I dont have much jewellery and my ering and wedding band is the only jewellery I wear in addition to my watch and small earring hoops.

What was important to me was getting the diamond from somewhere that wasnt run by Debeers or from mines that have good working conditions. We got a Canadian diamond. I read that now debeers is buying canandian mines now :whip: :whip:. Dont buy your diamonds from a jewellery store, go to a diamond dealer. We did, saved $$ and they explain everything to you. The markup in a store is ridiculous.

PS- I have also heard that tension settings are the most secure setting, but they cannot be resized.

Oh my god, Jamie and I are soulmates. I love those rings, its what I want, and I want a ruby, or at least rubies in the ring (Im obsessed with the color red).

Those are quiet nice!

Since this is a thread on diamond rings(And I feel like whoring), I am curious to hear what the Fem TA's like/dislike about my choice:

These are on my finger a few weeks prior to its permanent location (excluding the wedding band)
