I would never touch that ...I remember seeing something on TV where some dude was on it (didn't take it intentionally) and ended up at a Burger King where he worked at on the roof going nuts and throwing containers of ketchup and mustard among other things at cops:eek: |

This is what they determines why each drug is on the list
"Nutt and colleagues used three factors to determine the harm associated with any drug: the physical harm to the user, the drug's potential for addiction and the impact on society of drug use."
The drugs higher on the list are really toxic to your body. I volunteered at a drug/mental clinic for clinical experience. I got assigned to the ing mental ward. Craziest thing I saw was a schizo heroin addict. He was screaming profanity at the wall as if it was a person and shaking a lot. Once in awhile i did some work in the drug ward. Most of the the people in the drug ward were heroin, coke, opiates (street methodone), and meth addicts. These people all could not function normally without it. All of them basically lived their life just for the drugs euphoric effects. Some of these drugs can cause brain damage.
I left that place after two month of volunteering(volunteered about 10 days). The stuff you see their is pretty shocking. They treat some really crazy people pretty badily. I think its because some of the doctors/nurses/assistants are fed up with some of the really crazy patience.
Ectasy isn't that dangerous. The dangerous affects of ectasy are dehydration, serotonin deficit (depression effect). Almost all fatalities are from comas. It's caused by water intoxication (drinking too much water), body overheating (because you dance to much or you are to hyper) and both. Rest once in awhile and don't drink a lot of water. :) Don't OD either. |

A more reasonable list might be:
1. Methamphetamine
2. Crack
3. Heroin
4. Alcohol
5. Tobacco
6. Prescription Opiates/Opioids
7. GHB and its precursors like 1,4-Butanediol
8. Cocaine HCL
9. Amphetamine
10. Glue/paint/whiteout or whatever idiots decide to huff
11. Methylphenidate
12. Benzodiazepines
13. Barbiturates
14. Ecstasy
15. Steroids
16. Ketamine
17. Cannabis
|
I wouldnt even include Methylphenidate on that list. Granted, it can cause liver damage at high dosages but those dosages aren't easily reachable, unless you down 1200mg at once. Also, I'd consider Barbituates to be more dangerous than Benzo's. Lastly, with the three criteria used by the 'researchers' many of the afformentioned substances probably wouldnt even be on that list. While huffing glue isn't good for you, it's not addictive nor has it caused any noticable negative social affects with the likes of crack, meth or even cannabis.

Well ya but is the effect of nicotine really THAT significant? All time's I've really smoke I can't really account any effect whatsoever. |
Nicotine releases dopamine in the brain, giving your brain an almost rewarded feeling. People use it after stressful situations because tobacco gives you a little headrush and the dopamine 'relieves stress' |

Yeah, Ritalin isn't exactly dangerous IMO.. Why? Cause it's not that great of a high and it wears off so quick.. That's a terrible reason, I know.. lol.. I'm sure some people love the and just keep popping/bumping on it.

Most definitely.. after I posted about that kid I knew that took 22 bars one night, I read that the lethality of benzodiazepines is quite high unless combined with other CNS depressants.
Dunno about the lethality of barbiturates.. but apparently it's easily reached with the deaths of Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland and Jimi Hendrix as examples. |

I havent read this whole thread, but can anybody tell me why weed is at 11? (pretty high I mean you can smoke weed every day and it wont do much to you, but doing ecstasy every day really will add up and you up after a few years)
perhaps they were looking at it more from a social standpoint than scientific??
like maybe theres very few people who do ecstasy that often for a long amount of time, where as loads of people smoke weed all day, and develop chronic bronchitus or something like that from it. Maybe they consider daily marijuana users addicted (mentally of course, not physically) where as they wouldnt consider weekly ecstasy users addicted. |

i honsetly can't fathom a real reason for it to even be on that list.
maybe they're looking at it as its status as a gateway drug. it is DEFINITELY a gateway drug..
i never thought of doing a drug in my life 'til my friend smoked pot and told me all the fun they did.. so i tried it.. never really liked it.. but was curious bout what all the other drugs made you feel like.. so i tried vicodin, then xanax, then etc..
don't smoke pot anymore, but i'm in love with acid and shrooms, though. |

its different for everybody.
I had the desire to try all sorts of different drugs, but once i finally tried weed I loved it, however for one reason or another it also stifles any desire for me to try other drugs, because im content with it, and only view other drugs as more harmful/expensive/unpleasant. Now when i run out of weed is another story... but still its been a year or two, and I have not tried any other drugs besides alcohol which I tried once (when i was out of weed for a while) and have not touched since.
However right now i'm probably not that good of an example...as yesterday I had bloody mucus...but it was from the back of my nasal cavity, rather than like my lungs or whatever. I still am feeling sore/irritated around there, but I blame it on using a small spoon pipe instead of my bong lately. I guess I'm mentally addicted to weed though, but people laugh at the amount i go through in a month. I have madly low tolerance. .1-.2 will get me high, and I never used more than like half a gram in a day. |

well it was mixed with weed. this was probably when i was late 16 or 17. i was having a good time talking to people and swinging around a light pole. i was VERY active at that time. i wasn't violent, but i was talking a lot and dancing around. i have never tried pcp by itself. i would try it once and never again because
a) because of the false sense of power you can get, it wouldn't be a good match for me if i'm in a bad mood
b) not good for the brain!
c) you can really hurt yourself or others if you are not in the righ setting or if you cannot handle it
but read the erowid reports. they are very interesting... |

| thinking about it.. i'd put ghb at number 1. never done it.. don't wanna do it, but i've read that the dose needed to get high is really really close to the lethal dosage. |
