altho, it is the nicotine that people get addicted to, not the tobacco.
i wonder if anyone has ever tried to do some kind of study where nicotine was added to a food or something else besides tobacco products. just to see if people become addicted to that food/substance. |

I think that one could fairly easily add large amounts of nicotine to gum (not small amounts as in the "stop smoking" aids) or something. I doubt that it would taste any worse than cigarette smoke.

Most nicotine in tobacco actually gets burned off when you smoke a cigarette; only a bit remains and that is what gets inhaled and addicts a person. |

| smoking cannabis increases health risks by a very large number as opposed to say baking with it. MDMA is not ranked higher on the list because there is very very few reports of deaths from mdma purely being in the persons system. you will overdose and die more quickly from Tylenol(acetaminophen) then you will from mdma. liver damage with acetaminophen "can" start with as little as 2,000mg which would be approximately 4 extra strength tablets. based on research done they believe the amount of pure mdma it would take to cause damage to the human brain to be roughly 300mg. with this in mind this is believed to be very minimal effects. lethal dosage on mdma unless i am mistaken is supposedly to be around 8,000mg so roughly 8grams of pure mdma. note this is a lethal dosage which means you will die not it will harm you. lethal dosage in Tylenol is roughly 6,000mg or 6grams taken into account the lethal dosage from this comes from liver failure. my numbers might not be spot on but i believe them to be fairly close. also consider that an active recreational dosage of mdma is around 80-150mg and the active dosage for the use of Tylenol is well we all know 500mg as most all dosage are 500mg and who really takes a 200mg one unless they are strapped. |

| Just like other addictions: it makes them feel good (or less bad) and they want that to continue, so they keep on smoking. |

Well ya but is the effect of nicotine really THAT significant? All time's I've really smoke I can't really account any effect whatsoever. |

| I have smoked, too, and it did very little for me as well. I think that what often happens is people do it as a social habit at first and then their bodies gradually build up a perceived "need" for nicotine which makes them crave cigarettes (or whatever) even when they are alone. |

| I have done alot of things before but the one that messes me up is weed for sure. For most ppl it's nothing and mad chill for me It gives me psychosis and i lose touch with all reality and it's the worst thing i can ever experience. I have tried to get immune to it but doing it more often but that doesn't work. I just can not smoke. |
