Alcohol, tobacco, and opiates, however...
Very damaging to the health, worse things you can put into your body, and they don't even really come with any added dimensions of mental acuity like the hallucinogens do. |
I was under the impression that, apart from the addiction factor, pure heroin didn't have any negative health impacts. |

Well, I guess it's important to draw that distinction, because it is vital.
Dosage, frequency, and purity are key.
A glass of wine a day will extend your life and promote health in a lot of various ways... a bottle a day, and you'd be lucky to last 10 years.
So yeah, heroin (and any of the other common opiates/opioids really) are relatively safe at "normal" dosages; the problem is that people's initial tolerance skyrockets after only a short period of use, causing very fast ramping escalations in dosage to achieve the same effect.
Whereas this dose escalation happens just the same with anything, amphetamines for example, the difference (as mentioned earlier) is that alcohol and opiates can kill you on the withdrawls unless you gradually ramp off the drug. That is to say... the side-effects of the withdrawl to that particular drug can directly or indirectly cause the death, as happens sometimes when junkies are jailed off the street, or even alcoholics who have died after being jailed for DUI.
Eh.. people should be allowed to do whatever they want with their bodies, and get proper health information on the things they ingest |

i dunno abt that man, i know 2 cases of lsd where one guy took a bad hit and he never recovered and another guy that went schizo from a bad hit as well.
and where the is crystal meth
unless they were referring to meth when they said amphetamines, But even so they're two pretty distinct drugs, very different then one another. Anyways meth i thnk is one of the most dangerous drugs out there |

Anyone who takes LSD and goes "Schizo" from LSD shouldn't have taken it in the first place. |

but how do you know you are going to go schizo until you take it and it happens? |

Because most mentally stable people who take LSD most likely won't go schizo.
Unpleasant reactions are
likely if the user is mentally unstable, anxious or
depressed and can include anxiety, fear,
depersonalization (feelings of floating outside
one's body), depression, disorientation and panic.
Serious panic and anxiety or even psychotic
reactions can occur, but can be dealt with by
reassurance. Occasionally tranquillizers may be
required. Prolonged mental illness such as
schizophrenia or depression, may be triggered off
by an LSD trip.
Most people, in my opinion, should prepare themselves mentally before taking LSD. LSD can sweep you from under your feet, and you may become scared and lose your cool. LSD isn't like Ecstasy where anyone can take it and feel a rush of euphoria. LSD reacts differently with all people, but will especially cause problems if one is mentally unstable. |
