I'm a convert circa 2003 (first year in the scene) -- went up in a roadtrip with acquaintances during my bday wkend...then left part of my soul there since. my god :eyes: i was so PWNED i wrote a whole freakin blog about it, play-by-play and talked so much about it, i think Drew got **sick** of me talking during that period. ROFL! :crazy:
Also the rooms have been renovated SINCE, so YOU actaully GET to be amongst the FIRST NYTAs to see the 'NEW' and 'IMPROVED' GUV...and for that I seriously do envy you.
OLD MAIN ROOM GUV = rotating lasers floor to f*ckin ceiling, phazons...KH = great sound and lights, each room BIGGER than any one venue in NYC thus far...cant even begin to imagine the NEW GUV
(regular Trance nights = $15-20 *CAN special Ultra spin/multi-headliners nights never more than $50 CAN <-- if that does not persuade you then i guess NOTHING will)

GUV kicks ass, enough said.
CANADIAN nightlife > NYC in so many respects its not even funny...and the place CLOSES at 8am on regular nights (well it used to anyway.) with one of the BEST resident djs i have ever experienced. |

Then there are ppl like me that are from Toronto and HATE the Guv more than anything.
I try to avoid going to that venue at ALL costs. I much rather the Kool Haus (which yes is attached) or the Comfort Zone which is almost like your Love but a little bigger. :D
Underground style > Guv. |

yes i hear that opinion also from TOTAs thats cool. there are pros and cons about every venue/crowd etc. Here too. Most ppl used to prefer Viva/Boa/The Docks up there, i hear etc. i hear iffy things about CoZo as well but hey to each his/her own ;)
I miss System SoundBar though, that was def a very CUTE place.
labour of love is a kickass event, regardless though! :D |

I miss System as well. Trust me, it really was the BEST club that ever came out of TO. As for the Zone, they have cleaned it up a lot from the first time I was there in 2004 to present. Most of the stuff you will hear about the Zone is probably from people who have never been or went when it was super sketch.. lol :)
Labour of Love is one of my most hated events.. lol, go figure. :p
(not cuz of the lineup usually, just cuz of the crowd) But again that is my opinion. I don't want to discourage anyone here.. haha. |

Only if it is Detroit though in my case. I can't stand to watch the Leafs choke every single freakin time.. :haha:

i really really detest overcrowded/sweat-infested/B.O. events, so on some level ill agree with u. LOL 2006 was really GREAT but during ARMIN the crowd was UNBEARABLE i swear ppl were pushing me and i had my fists ready. i prefer going to GUV on nights where there is only one headliner + Mark Oliver cuz then there are less ppl. It's also cuz i want to hear a headliner spin 4+ hours, which just doesnt happen during LOL. I havent been UP to GUV lately for a regular one headliner night which pisses me off :(
I encourage everyone to go up to GUV for either LOL or G2 or any Ultra Spin event...esp SHOULD go to LOL for a great Labor Day weekend/even do the hardcore thing and hit up Montreal the next night. :haha:
Hey, I've only missed out ONE YEAR of going to Labour of Love from 2003-2006. :D Besides that, it was going up for Mark Oliver one regular night, one Ultra Spin 4 with Rank 1 & G&D, and G2 last year. i have yet to get tired of Toronto and the scene....so i would def recommend everyone go up there :) |

I was ing livid. I had the worst night EVER there and I refused to go back to another LoL ever again.. :haha: |
