| i used to function fine with 4-6 hours of sleep a night. then, i started getting more involved in boring meetings, and i try to stay away from the caffeine (including coffee) to stay awake, so i upped it to 6-8 hours a night, and i can now function fine without coffee every morning. |

No no, you don't understand. I wake up 6:50am every morning for work. |
Then skip a whole night of sleep.
It's all about ignoring what your body tells you to do.
For example, on a Sunday, when I get home at 5 or 6am, I force myself to get up again at 9 or 10am, otherwise I'll sleep til 2 or 3pm, then get to bed really late on Sunday night, which will screw my sleep cycle for the whole week. |

that amitriptyline trick... I passed out on the floor. I woke up after 14 hours of sleep, and got my motorcycle gear on by crawling along the floor to get the pieces and passed out holding my helmet for like another 2.
to be honest I used to only sleep for 4 hours a night in school. When I got a full time job it went up to 8-10. I can go to sleep at 8pm if I want to. Healthy diet, active mind, active body.
You sit on your ass all day and there is no need for your mind and body to rest. Add drugs and drinking to that and no you cant sleep.
This isnt directed at you but most people who "cant" sleep have a ed up life and need to do more with it instead of hanging out all the time.
Talkin from experience here. also when youre like 23 youll start sleeping more. 18-22 I slept for naught |

| 7~8 hours. I'm still in debt with my body, though, because I spent way too many nights awake during the semester :p |

Well I feel like I get a good sleep. I mean I don't get tired during the day, I don't feel like I need something to keep me awake. I know it's not healthy getting half the amount of sleep you should but until it's seriously effecting my body to the point where it slows me down , I'm good.
thanks for the tips though |

| i agree with Orbax. the older you get, the more sleep is one of the most important entities in your life. i remember when i was younger, i could function properly with small amounts of sleep. |

I was reading about this a few weeks ago actually.
If you get less than 6 hours than your body hasn't recharged completely and around lunchtime you start to feel it.
If you sleep over 9 hours then your body secrete an excess amount of hormone which means you remain tired for the rest of the day and it has been reported in some cases to even damage organs such as the liver and kidneys. Only in like 14h+ regular sessions though.
7-8 is ideal so I try and get that much but I often sleep for a bit longer. I love sleeping so I can't help it :p |
