People here dont realize that if LOL, one of the biggest nights of the year for dance music is not at capacity, then it's bad news for dance music in Toronto in general. People shouldnt be celebrating that fewer people are interested in attending a dance music event as this just means to me that the scene has shrunken here.
AFIK there wasnt a hell of a lot else going on in TO last night was there? |
BS.
Over the years you'd argued with ppl here who have been complaining about the unbearable over-crowding issue @ Guv that they should shut up, stay home and your stance was that there's no basis for complaining if you already know it's going to be packed.
now that folks are actually forced to take the wise decision and not ruin a fun night of partying due to lack of space and stay home, you're back and bitching why we don't fill up your favorite club?
seriously dude, you just like to complain. get a grip. |

for all the people in the KH, can you clear something up for me. Did they allow Armin to play
that extra 30 mins, or was it just that Sander came late? The reason I ask this is because we
clearly saw Armin giving his traditional goodbye around 3, the time Sander was supposed to come on, then
someone at the back of stage was saying something to Armin so he kept playing.
I think it also explains why Sander would repeat The Perspective Space. |

Perhaps if they had just stuck to capacity last year, instead of cramming the place so full that you couldn't move let alone dance, then maybe, just maybe, so many people wouldn't have been put off going this year.
With respect to the mechanics of the situation, this year was massive improvement over last year as it actually could be enjoyed before 3am when people finally give up, go home, and the space increases. |
yup last year *was* crammed beyond capacity, i just recall during being on the right side of the stage during Armins set...and barely being able to move/breathe! yeah that def detered me from going this yr (along with lineup, altho i wanted to see SVD, Blake Jarrell and Yahel - ah to hear Voyage live!!~)
good to hear it was better managed this yr.
wait...did i read that no lasers were used in the MAIN ROOM?!! did we ever get an answer to this question? the reason i prefer the main room to KH is that the main room USES the lasers! (well i havent been back to GUV since the renovations so not sure if both rooms have lasers now or not? i dont recall lasers being used during Sander K during LOL 2004 but i could be wrong.)
glad everyone had fun, esp the first-timers, i fondly remember my first time at GUV as well :p |

Sorry sweets..but you stand corrected the original was by
Goldtrix feat. Andrea Brown - It's Love (Trippin')
As a matter a fact...the lyrics are by Andrea Brown
google it and you'll read this:
Now, though, Kate Lawler is trying her luck with a single. Although, strictly speaking, she's remixing rather than actually making her own record - It's Love (Trippin'), to be precise.
Oh wait..was this an inside poke meant for cribby? Cribby get your ass over here and defend your music knowledge babes :toothless |

after a long recovery time heres my thoughts on my first LoL
First of all, great meeting a bunch of you :)
16 bit lolitas were awesome, Im very upset I only got to catch a bit of the set. Armin disappointed me. Danny T was just incredible. I really enjoyed the energy. Losing my religion = favourite part of the night. However I got bored with him by the end. Glad I spent a lot of time dancing in D'luxe, much more room to dance :) |

Wicked seeing everyone, however, a missing Miss K would have topped the cake.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Danny T doing some acapella at 9:45 am. His final words about loving Toronto, how he wants to travel less, bring back Vinyl cause it sounds better... but that Toronto will always be a stop on his travel schedule.
AMAZING.
F'N sick.
SECOND HIGHLIGHT OF THE NIGHT - Danny whipping IMAGINARY ARROWS IN TO THE CROWDS HEARTS using his imaginary bows at the crowd.
Madness. |

but getting around Guv/Orange Room/Gallery/KH wasn't bad at all. In the past I only remember having one entrance to Orange, through the tunnel, but last night you could just walk right into the OR under the stairs going up to the Drink. I always found the Tunnel area to be the worst but last night it was pretty good. |
agreed. before the reno's that second entrance directly to OR from guv wasnt there. chilled there a lot so i could catch whatever tunes were better. almost got in a fight there. this girl in bikini kept bumping into my friend (whos a very very tough chick) and they started chirping each other and had to separate them and send em off diff ways "stop being a bunch of crackheads and have fun". lol

My only problem was everyone was scattered all over the place witch is expected, so I got major case of A.D.D and I couldn’t stay in one room too long. |
i gave up and kept txting people to come to whatever room i was in saying the music was wicked

Yeah I didn't even bother, although I do tower over everyone and when people come into the room I’m they can see me from a mile away. |

| From my understanding, Sander had quite a bit to drink before he went on which is probably why his performance was less than stellar :) |

think before you post, dude. Sooo many positive reviews, and much of it is because there was room to move. Do you like to dance at dance events even?
'Just wondering, did Guv finally learn to count or did less ppl attend (or both)? |

By far the best Labour I have been to crowd and sketch-wise...neither were a problem for me this year...arrived at 12:30 and the line moved very quickly (quite surprising)went right into the KH and AvB was dropping some very good tunes. After a few Jagerbombs at the KH bar we found a good spot and listened to the rest of Armin's set...One of the best (if not the best) sets I've heard Armin play, I was quite impressed.
After thinking wtf it's 3:30 where's Sander...He came on and rocked the KH. I agree with most that it wasn't the best SvD set but it was still amazing...Like Mortyman said dark dirty techy like his earlier Identity sets. SvD's set time did no justice at all, I mean 2 (scheduled) hrs gimme a break
After SvD we made our way to the tent and the madness continued...sick sick beats. Then Danny T for a bit, good change of pace I thought. Ended the night at Skybar from 6:30-7:30. Deko-ze had me movin but I ran out of gas.
Overall it was a good night...no problems moving from room to room which was a good change compared to other All Access events.
I'm coming for you Pryda:crazy:
EDIT: who was playing in the tent around 5am (after SvD's set)...my buddy said it was MSTRKRFT but i wasn't sure...if it was those guys have a new fan coz they were sick |
