"technically" I guess it is a rave...our Premier would consider it a rave, as well as the media haha.

Raves have developped over time and to people who went to "Raves" back in the day would not consider these parties as raves.

ok then what do u call events at the guvernment..such as Labour??...were we not gathered and centered around listening and dancing to electronic music as played by a set of live djs??? can u point out to me the BIG difference then so i would become as educated on what a rave TRULY means as u are?

For the younger generation....most of them think of raves as afterhours EDM parties, usually involving drug use.

For many of the older partiers who remember or at least were at EDM parties of the mid 90s would classify raves more as organized underground parties. Usually the parties would start after dusk and last through till dawn. Drug use is/was more the norm at these parties; particularly the use of Ecstasy and LSD. I am sure you have heard the acronym PLUR.....thats basically what the whole RAVE scene was about in the 90s.

I've been to raves that had thousands of partiers, and lasting from one night to a few days. These were not parties that you found a flier on your car window telling you about it but more often you needed to know someone who had a phone number of a guy who could get you a map with the location of the party. These parties would be held pretty much anywhere from old subway stations, old warehouses, forests and corn fields. The first Rave I went to was in a corn field and the only reason I went was my friend said there would be hot chicks and drugs....I didn't even know what electronic music was back then....I was still into my Guns N Roses and Aerosmith tapes.

I don't know....what about Daft Punk this year. I would consider that more of a concert or show then a party and it was probably the most fun I've had going out anywhere this year.

And thats why I've said that the younger generation of partiers/ravers have a different definition of what a Rave is....either way....as long as the music keeps pumping and the people keep dancing....its all good.
