hah Honestly, my new pet peeve in a club is being deep in a crowd and having some dude standing in front of me holding his camera level for 10 mins at a time taking videos all night. man, you're here NOW, wouldn't you rather have that lived experience, rather than watching it over and over on facebook!?!? DANCE FFS.
Not only that but his camera is usually blocking my view, and contributing in NO way to the party.
(I think Danny T is saying a little bit of that as well) |
I don't disagree. I am just sceptical that this can be stopped or controlled. |

Oi.
RJ, thanks for clearing that up...I've never seem him so I didn't know.
Jon-Jon, I understand what you're saying about cameras. If I do take a video (like at the hostel) I get the hell off the dance floor and out of the way...a few minutes and/or one transition is usually enough for me to be satisfied.
I'm going to chalk this whole thread up to a DJ who's angry for a good reason, wrote a letter he may come to regret and a whole lot of misinterperetation and mis communication.
Happy Friday everyone! |

| Yeah, I think the biggest issue I have with people taking videos at a club is their total disregard for people around them. As long as it's done quickly, and they have a spot away from the 'action', then go nuts. Otherwise... get the out of my way, or you may get an accidental flying elbow and your precious camera will be smashed into itty bitty pieces. |

| So you must also hate videos taken of you DJing then too, guys. |

| I Believe Danny T has a right to be angry as he was betrayed by club owners and promoters. I also understand that he doesn't want his set recorded because he has tracks on that mix that dj's and record labels don't want released to the public (yet I presume?). But people with cell phones and camera's, I don't understand why he is so frustrated about that? It seems he's living in an age where there were no such technology, he shouldn't hate it but more embrace and accept the fact it happens. People made a lot of solid arguments here, like the fact he got paid for his set and even if his mix is distributed, he's getting more publicity and recognition. Alas I would be mad if the same thing happened to me, but it happened so there's nothing he can do. All he can do is just keep playing and trust people less. |

| When DJ'ing I'm oblivious to pictures/videos being taken of me. And when I do notice I'm flattered. |

This just shows the n00bness of today's crowds. Danny is a LEGEND, and MOST people know how he operates, and can respect and understand that. Jesus Christ...do people really not know who he is?? I agree that being all egotistical and diva-esque isn't always cool...but for 's sake it's DANNY TENAGLIA!! Yeah, he IS kind of a big deal.
And forget who he is and just think about the simple fact that an agreement was blatantly disregarded. Doesn't matter who was wronged, it's still total bull.
At least the guy has principles that he sticks to. Maybe if more people these days could say the same for themselves, they wouldn't be so baffled by his behavior. |

| Honestly, the only way this would bother me is if they were recieving money for these sets. Hell, otherwise, its purely promotion. However, the decision is ultimately his. |

Just because YOU think he's a big deal does not make him a God-like creature he is still human the same and equal to us all
Times change, the dj doesn't decide society does. I also am aware that he maybe extra sensitive to camera lights and flashes, but that doesn't make him a big deal I dont give a who you are. |

Last time I was in Montreal, it was still that same way there.
And all my times to Aria, I know for a fact no cameras were allowed, unless it was Malek :) |
