| As a casual EDM listener, now that I'm older, I'm amazed at how much attention Deadmau5 gets. I just don't understand why he gets any attention at all and where this group of people are that love him. To me it seems like it is just a very loud vocal internet minority that are fans of his music. I'm not saying he's a bad producer or that I dislike his music I'm just saying he gets more attention than what he should really get. |

mmm, you got your panties up in a bunch about tiesto. pretending to play on 3 CDjs while one of them wasn't plugged in, warping all his tracks to be at the same BPM... he used to be one of my favorites... 7 years ago, that is. $70 to see him? no ing way.

Burial is probably the worst example you can give if you want to talk about music theory. First of all, he is very adamant about involving as little theory as possible with his music. Even his production software is as basic as it gets. Most of the Untrue album was put together in a couple of weeks. Read one of his many interviews and you'll have it spelled out for you.
So yes, Burial's music is purely the result of practice. 8 years of it.
To put it simply, if you're wanting to analyze Burial, or hardcore, or jungle, or even UK garage from a theoretical point of view, you're kind of missing the point. |
