Well I think it's ing ridiculous to complain about "feeling old". God, your whole life is ahead of you!!

Wait till you're 70+, and have cardiovascular disease, and arthritis, and are incontinent.. THEN start bitching, lol.

my whole thing tho isnt that i feel old and my knees feel achy etc.

my point being is that i did alot of changing in 3 years and i am now at a point in my life, as im sure most ppl around the same age are. and i look back to 3 years ago and I miss the irresponsibility we once had. The youth of not giving a where my actions had no causes. Where i was just being an arrogant irresponsible twenty year old and not giving a feck.

"Growing up" is basically realizing that you're not as interesting or exceptional as you probably thought you were when you were younger.

In this sense, although I do feel like you at times, I have to agree with Jenny.

As we grow up, some of society's delusive ideas have been repeated to us so frequently that we start to take them as truths... specially because, as we get older, we learn what it is like to fail. Most of us won't get all that we want immediately. Even if you're a highly intelligent (and creative) person, people won't always look at you and say "Bloody hell, you're awesome!". Noam Chomsky was extremely bitter about not being given any attention in the beginning of his career. Ludwig Wittgenstein, in order to be accepted by Bertrand Russell, had to stalk him around Cambridge for nearly a year... and for most of this time, Russell thought he was an idiot.

So, in that sense, I side with Jennypie. I certainly feel really uncomfortable being in an unstable state of affairs, striving for such a difficult career. But I believe in me. Others have believed in me also, and I see no reason why I should ever give up.

the effects of social pressure are even more apparent when you consider what is deemed as "success" in ones environment. choosing to break out of this societal normal is, in my opinion, necessary to find out what you want to do in life. not everyone is made to be a doctor or lawyer like most families would want to believe.
