You already qualify as a Major Noob, that's got to be worth something to them.

Who knows. He is a flight instructor now for C-17's. Seems to be moving up - and of the 4 places he has been - they have been his top choice each time.

This thread is pretty depressing.

I used to imagine that I would be doing something interesting for a living by my mid-20s. Now that reality has set in -- I'm pretty smart, but not smart, original, or driven enough to make money doing really cool and creative stuff -- I foresee myself taking a ty but tolerable job and using the few "leftover" hours of the day to do the things that actually interest me.

I guess I'll adapt to it and end up moderately content, though, just kind of shuffling through life. Most people in their late 20s end up that way, at least all the ones I've known, adapting to whatever situations they end up in and staying just content enough with their conditions and possible futures to keep going day after day.

It doesn't sound all that interesting to the romantic side of me, which is a pretty strong one. But I guess that losing that romantic streak (or hiding it until it bursts out in a midlife crisis) is part of "growing up," right?

You complain about your area of responsibility?! Pppfffff

The orange is what we deal with:

Equivalent to about 8 of your areas... not only that but we have to deal with marine and aviation as well as typical land based forecasting

And for the idiots that cannot read maps - Alaska is superimposed over the US to give an idea of the area that we cover.
