But I tell ya, NONE of us are actually old. We still have our entire lives ahead of us. Be optimistic. Or else I'm going to feel depressed about the never-to-experience-ever-again careless childhood as well.

i have my own house, i have my own bills, and work a full time job.

believe me, if i could change anything right now? i'd rather be 18-22, living in a dorm room, no major bills, and being a full time student.

It's not a bad thing at all though. It's more like a trade-off, and I don't think one is better than the other, it's just different. You definitely have the right outlook. ;)

I think it just has to do with the fact that I'm graduating next year, and then, its the real world. Now I'm looking back at high school and I feel like I "wasted" some of that time. I put quotes around that because of course I didn't actually waste it, but I just feel there were things I could have done that I didnt do.

But whatever. Like I said, life is long, and we've only lived a small part of it. Those things I didn't do, I still have plenty of time to do. Its the thought of entering the real world that scares me. I want to pull off a kick-ass job with lots of $$$, but I feel with today's economy plus all this worry of job security is going to put me in a complicated situation. I'll deal, though. :)

I know EXACTLY what you mean.

I talk to friends of mine who were in the armed forces. They dreaded basic training soooo much, hated it and how you were forced to do so much .

Then when they got back, all they talk about was how awesome it was, and how awesome it made them feel/be.

5 years = around a gs13 salary + Cost of Living adjustment. No shivers there.
