I'd be more concerned more with the pitching, personally. When Posada and A-Rod are healthy you guys will hit and score a lot of runs but I don't see anybody in your starting rotation, besides Wang, who can consistently get guys out and give quality starts. |

| importantly, Cano and Giambi have decided to start hitting the ball. as the yankees have shown in the past few years, our bats can carry us while pitching is soft. i just hope that joba works out in the rotation, hughes stops being a and pitches somewhere near his expectations, and the vet pitchers carry their weight. |

| it's been almost two months since the last post - i'm starting to get excited about the season. there's a lot to be excited about now: 8 in a row, ripping the sox, picked up relatively cheaply a strong lefty and the player the mets wish they still had, cano is a monster, AROD is AROD, the pitching has been excellent, and most importantly we are only 2.5 back. |

The original deal that was reported was "cheap." The new one... not so much. The Pirates made out pretty good.
Also, the Mets traded Nady for Roberto Hernandez and some left-handed starter who went 3 - 13 that year. Hmmm... |

the only quality prospects in the deal are tabata and ohlendorf (although i'm not keen on ohlen anyway) - and those two were in the initial rumors. karstens and mccutchen were not in the initial report, however, they are rather unspectacular. karstens has seen big league action and was unimpressive. mccutchen appears to be just slightly more impressive - however, no more than kontos:

I'm glad it's a 3 team race in the AL East and the NL East. It'll make for some memorable tight finishes come late September.
As for ballparks, I did check out the new Nationals Ballpark in DC. Overall they did a good job with the park, but the exterior architecture is a bit bland. Would have been nice if they had some distinct touches to the ballpark besides cherry trees.
I'm already excited for the new ballparks opening next year here. We NYC baseball fans are way past due for better ballparks.
I'll be visiting Coors Field, Kauffman Stadium and Safeco Field in September :gsmile: |
