Dervish
Used Mac/Linux(loads of distros and hardware)/Windoze.

Mac wins hands down..... Ubuntu is close but not quite there yet.

I use a duo-core and it works perfectly for me. I can play the latest games...no problem...;)...if you're lookin to save money...if you got money...why not?

Got any guides?

well i'm gonna be spending the same amount
but i could bump it from 2.4-3.0GHz if i go from quad to dual, think i'm gonna go with 3.0 dual-core

tbh, i would go for max memory and a dual core, fast fast HDs, but most programs dont support 4 cores yet|

so after all my frustration i installed xp on the 60gb as a slave after formatting to NTFS...

i tried to boot the xp cd by itself and with a bootable cd and couldnt get it to load. i then installed a new install on the new drive, while the original drive was still in. if i slave/master those two i can boot to xp, but trying to boot straight from the new drive, sans the old C drive brings up a 'no floppy in A drive' prompt, even tho floppy has been removed from my bios list.

stupid old computer|

that is because you had 2 windows installations on the computer. You need to do a repair install with the old drive disconnected. This will keep the dual boot situation from being a problem. Then you can just edit the boot.ini and add the old windows install manually.

ah i figured it had something to do with a simple file that kept directing the bios somewhere else...

technically it thinks i have 3 versions of windows, since i orig had 98, even tho that was a fresh install too|
