And that's honestly fine. My problem only lies with the Siskel and Ebert explanations some people dream up afterwards and feel that they need to share with the whole world. |
haha man.. your totally right ... thats TA lol |

minimal ing blows
stupid clicks and bleeps
tribal jazz is still my fav though |

I'm not a minimal fan persay, but it is currently being rocked by some of my favorite DJs, so not only can I tolerate it, I actually like it!
Victor Calderone is killing it with minimal and techno these days, same with Dubfire. Those are two guys who can keep me dancing all night with minimal and techno jams.
Production wise, Shlomi Aber and Marc Antona are my faves right now, aside from Dubfire. Check out samples of their minimal stuff on beatport. |

You just don't 'get' it that's all.
The lack of layering or the noticable aspects of this in the music make it crazy for set building imo. |

I'm actually listening to some old Adam Beyer set while I study here.
It's great background noise. |
Yah I listen to it sometimes in my car...
Keeps me from speeding........
God that music is .... |

Set building????
The whole set sounds like the intro to 1 slow ass track...
My god it never goes anywhere.....
And yes I've been forced to listen to MANY minimal sets so I know what they sound like....
Garbage... |

Kinda hard to make a mistake when there's nothing there to begin with.
Seriously, some of what's labeled "minimal" is alright, but quite frankly, there's about 10 minutes of production effort that goes into most of it. All music is unforgiving if you make any mistakes. It's not hard to hear a tuning problem or a melody in the wrong key, even for people without a formal musical education.
And no, minimal music is not about layering either, it's primarily about a lack of layering that the other genres do.
God, I can't believe how ing pretentious some people manage to sound when they're talking about the latest flavour-of-the-month music that they only listen to because everyone else does. |
riiiight
we cant all be so cutting edge that we hate music BEFORE its released. |

You know what it sounds like sure, just like I know what death metal sounds like, but unless I take the time and invest into liking the music I won't 'get it'.
I thought house was boring, didn't go anywhere beats and nothing else garbage, but until Howells and listening to it enough I began to understand it. |
