I know producers don't always produce same genre all the time, but I'd think Pig & Dan and Popof is more tech house than minimal...

Certainly Pig & Dan barely touches any minimal in their sets...

Both are ace producers though. Love their tunes

agree with the first part, disagree with the second, 100% agree with the last statement

one set i have in particular has a lot of tech house stuff but there is some minimal in there too and they bring it together very well

Curious.

Is minimal techno by nature always slower than 130bpm, or are there minimal that's faster than that?

I'm listening to a Felix Krocher set right now, and there was this Super Mario Bros theme remix and essentially, it could be minimal in definition because all it had was a bass kick, a bit of high hats and the super mario theme (yay to old school bleepy sound!). Not the most complex tune structure wise

Addy likes to play it at 130 - 131 for the bulk of his set's...

It's the slowness that other DJ's play it at that bothers me...

Play it fast and it's not half bad...

And I wish ppl would stop with the minimal techno thing....

To me, this is techno and always will be...

How he goes from that to this

is totally beyond me...

You're right. The Womb, Tokyo set has some minimal, but they blend it in so well with tech house

there is alot of bad minmal tunes out there than good ones...i find dj's don't know how to use minimal sound to make there sets more effective.

I've tried many times to get into minimal but I find it too boring. Maybe I just haven't heard any good minimal.

i don't really pay attention closely since i don't dj, but i'm pretty sure i've heard minimal tracks that were originally 125ish being played past 130

and was the track butch - mushroom man (check it on beatport)? i'd agree with the label calling it techno rather than minimal, because of the mario samples being kinda "massive"(for lack of a term opposite of minimal)... but they contrast the rest of it which is pretty raw and basic on its own.

and if you want to check out a sick pig & dan track that i'd say is the least minimal or housey of theirs, look for beroshima - horizon (pig & dan remix)

No doode. Personal choice. I play it constantly and cannot seem to get my bf (Jay) into it. He has warmed slightly, but would never put it on himself. He says it's good chill music, at home, in the car.

He doesn't enjoy it in the club or to party to.

Where as I enjoy it anytime.

And trust me, I have played many different stylez and artists.

Shlomi Aber and Pan-Pot are my favorite minimal dj's but a really good local minimal dj is Just Phil:)
