I think it's generally agreed that Larry is a pretty versatile and solid DJ - he just really shouldn't have even tried to do a "live" set (which was really just an m-audio keyboard and Ableton with a Wiimote).
Beyond that, I think it was pretty hard for anyone who witnessed his little fit in Chicago to walk away with all that much respect for him - we've all got our bad nights though, just a shame you only get to make a first impression once.
Still, for a party that was booked one week before it was supposed to happen (because Kazell bailed yet again), he had as full (if not far fuller) a house as he could have expected, and just dropped the ball in a major, major way. |
Yeah that sucks. But whatever, I don't care much, its not like I go out of my way to see him or his live set, though I do like some glacier tunes. I'm still jizzing my undies over 2 hours of magda in the beatport tent sunday. I think I'll leave when she's done, richie. |

I believe after Magda we're going to Bleu to see Mathias play downstairs, then Temp Tattoos - if Temp Tattoos is too packed, maybe Radio Skool - but there has been some talk of possibly crashing for an hour or two on Sunday night/Monday morning, and getting up at 7 to head to Old Miami after a disco nap.
The only consensus anyone has seemed to come to as far as what we must go to is Old Miami. |

I fully support this consensus. I'll go as far as to say I'd miss temp tatoos for old miami in a heartbeat if it came down to that.
Its all about whacky weird techno parties where no one gives a about anything. |

I just want Old Miami to be the last thing we experience before getting on the train to head home. :) |

I think my rampant cynicism fits in well with the Detroit attitude. hehe
My main concern at this point for Temp Tattoos is that Pronsato and Landsky's sets are later on in the night. They are the two main people I'm interested in seeing at that party, but there's also no way I'm missing Carl Craig live at the festival, and that doesn't end till 11pm or so.
So is anyone else thinking about going to Beretta after Oslo, and then going to Old Miami from there?
I think maybe with that plan I could get in 2 hours of sleep before going back to the festival on Monday. That is going to make it incredibly difficult to make it to Accelerate on Monday night though. |

If you get there before midnight I think you'll be ok. |

I have a nice flask and bullet, both metal. :nervous: | Well you shouldnt be doing drugs (bullet) or taking in your own alcohol (flask). That is against the law. Follow the law and you wont get into any trouble.

Ryan Elliott’s record shop bills must be expensive. On his new promo mix, he burns through 40 tracks in 55 minutes, but the strange thing is it doesn’t feel rushed at all. Put this down to planning (Elliott is a big fan of preparing his setlists in Excel), as well as re-edits: “I edit about 90% of the tracks that I play,” he told RA recently. “The more that you can change or alter the music that you’re playing, the more original your set will be.”
And original it is. The set nods its head to the recent trend towards plain, functional house (Mountain People, Mara Trax), but there is still finds room for deeper, Detroit flavours by the likes of XDB, Planetary Assault Systems and Convextion, all blended into a seamless whole that is a fine representation of what’s happening in house and techno in May 2008. Recommended.
