Hi everyone,

I've been working on a new mix CD project over the last few months. It's a double CD for the Balance series from Australia.

The mixes were finished a few weeks ago, and I saw the rough tracklist was published before, so here I'll update you now with a more specific one.

As you can see there's lots of tracks on here, and it's pretty entertaining to see what comments people have been writing about that on some forums. My intention while working on the mixes however, has not been 'more is more'. Some of the tracks listed here have been reduced to a 2 bar loop, with some I only used the break or the intro.
The process of making this mix has been more like painting with sound rather than mixing the end of one track with the beginning of another. Working this way has been very interesting for me and made the project into something very different than a conventional dj mix cd.

I'm sure I won't be pleasing everyone with these mixes, some listeners will be happily or uneasily surprised, but at least it's pushing my own boundries in a technical, but even more so, in a musical and artistic way.

This sure as hell makes clear he's an artist, rather then a DJ who wants to sell. Thumbs up for Joris!

Very nice cover art! I really do like this one! :) Indicates the content, what sort of thing's inside...

Feb 9th in Australia and Asia, early March everywhere else, though you can order directly from the label and get it just after the 9th Feb if you dont want to wait.

Dumb question (perhaps) (/dont exist); if the album is finished already and release-ready, then why does EQ still keeps it unreleased for like another 2 months?

December / January is always a typically slow time in terms of sales, which is one reason you don't see many albums or comps released during that timeframe.

Additionally even though the mixes will have been "completed", sometimes it takes time to obtain clearance for all the tracks, to the point there have been instances in the past when promotional copies of albums ended up with different track lists to the retail version (Sander Kleinenberg's Nubreed is a good example of this, as is Parks & Wilson 'Painting On Silence').

Furthermore, there are such things as promotion, advertising, tour availability, dj bookings to organise and obviously it makes more sense to release it with all these factors locked down and in place also.

Yeah, it shouldn't take too look to receive clearance for...103 tracks...

The album had been cleared well before the final mixes were put together and the manufacturing process begun. The release of the album is getting nearer and nearer..
