Le Canadien a mis la main sur le joueur de centre Glen Metropolit, qui avait été placé au ballottage par les Flyers de Philadelphie.
En 55 matchs cette saison avec les Flyers, Metropolit a amassé quatre buts et dix mentions d'aide pour un total de 14 points.
Guy Carbonneau a déclaré qu'il ne savait pas encore s'il affrontera son ancienne équipe vendredi soir, mais que si ce devait être le cas, c'est Kyle Chipchura qui serait laissé de côté.
Rappelons qu'en 1996-97, Metropolit avait enfilé l'uniforme des Rafales de Québec, récoltant neuf points en 22 matchs.
