Is there anything they could really say about that which would satisfy you? No, I doubt there is. They admitted it though and that's as much as anyone can do. They said, we ed up, we're sorry. Beyond that I don't really see anything they could possibly say or do at this point. Most ty promoters would never even go as far as to man up to it.

"We man up to it.......

but it was everyone else's fault, we had 6 people working, and please don't ask for refunds so we can do a 2009 one?... Oh and without us, there would be no electronic music in New York."

I know I fall in the category of -talkers who didn't go, but I was ready to go on Friday night until I passed by and saw the cluster for myself... And I was sick on Sunday so I gave the ticket to someone else, luckily, so I can still stand on the sidelines and call it like I see it.

LOL, I laughed when someone said this party will be just like the way parties are in Berlin. (Highlight of the year for me. :p) Honestly, if u guys want Berlin, go to Berlin. NYC isnt Berlin and it wont ever be. Hence why exploring EDM outside the 5 boroughs is something to do if you truly love the music. If you love the scene, well, thats a diff story then. ;) This party had disaster written all over it given the place it would have been held, date, the way it was organized. No seriously, who throws any sort of party in Coney Island ? I was lookin at the videos. Ive never seen such a half assed party in my life, whats even worse is how much ppl shelled out for a weekend pass. For gods sakes, get lighting. One small tent, 2 porter potties, and Francois K under a small 2 by 2 tent isnt my idea of a party. For free, sure. I mean thats sort of what Festivus was like in Central Park, but there was no expectation beyond that for the people who went to that party. This Mini-tek thing got overhyped way too soon just cause of a few headliners.

Yeah, listening to Hawtin's and Konrad Black's sets, I can kinda see how easy it was to "make the best" out of the situation... I could dance in a parking lot to that stuff and have fun.. haha.. Next time I guess...

haha thats pretty much what we did on saturday!! It took us about 30 minutes to get in (which doesnt sound bad but there were maybe only 40-50 ppl in line so its worse than it seems!). The thing is, is that the line was so close to the tents that we had a danceparty right there in line :)

lol anyways, yeah the mishaps really didnt do much to ruin *MY* weekend per se, because our timing was impeccable in which we managed to avoid all of the *major* f*ckups. Sooo since the music was just amazing and the vibe was on point, I didnt really get the same frustrations as some of the people who came from out of town (or the people who had worse timing than us). I had a great time!

all i know is that eventhough they had alot of problems they still managed to somewhat get an event together and we all rocked out to some good techno. i hope they do bring this festival back next year cause like they said, now they know what NOT to do and eventhough people are very bitter about the whole situation and have good reason to be i think they can pull off something much much better next year and i am looking forward to it cause noone else ever brought this kind of talent to NYC!

I couldn't disagree with your comments more.

Yes, they f'ed up and they did not provide what they advertised but happens. Why piss and moan about it all weekend and let it prevent you from having a good time.

We paid $90 for 2 weekend passes and regardless of what happened I got my money's worth.

I am happy they did not have lights... techno and lights do not go together. There was enough light around so you could see where you were going. I don't even remember thinking that lighting was a problem at all.

Portapotties - they way more than they even needed. They had at least 30 or 40 which was more than enough for the crowd. They even had ones that were wheelchair excessible.

They had had created grassy areas for relaxing under a big tent and created grassy sections for both dance floors. They had it set up with a nice little festival feel.

I can only assume your comments were intended to be sarcastic but they do deserve a little credit.

My expectations of the weekend were to hear great music and those were met.

i read his explanation but that even adds more suspicion to a "secret" festival that really means we're not saying anything cuz we really don't know what's going on but purchase tickets to our event and we'll figure it out from there.

I can't even imagine the monetary hole these people are in at this point. Point blank they bit off far more than they could chew.

the most grating thing was the apologies -- now on their third iteration and counting -- which blamed everyone (sound crew, unscrupulous venue, weather, etc) but themselves. the best they could muster was the turn of the phrase favored by politicians and celebrities: "sorry to those who may have felt upset..." how about you simply apologize without the freakin' qualification.

like djquick said, had this been a free event like festivus or one of the coney island boardwalk joints, everything would have been chilly willy and the "E-for-effort" defense would suffice. sadly, when you're charging a nice chunk of dough for weekend passes with tiered pricing and people have made travel plans from all over, that doesn't fly - unless you're the type who easily rationalizes parting with their time and money. (their original statement even had the nerve to suggest people not ask for refunds lol)

they treated a varsity-level event like junior high kickball.
beema
yes because it could've easily been a free event with that lineup
you people have any idea how much it costs to book, fly out, and put all those DJ's up in hotels? Hawtin alone would break the ing bank.

I agree that the apology was a bit of a cop out in some points, but whatever... people need to get over it already.
