Hell I almost flew out there for this! :p

Sort of glad I canceled, though I wanted to see my NY friends most of all...

Ok im not really going to go into all the stuff that has been already covered........

Clearly, there were some mishaps with the organization. But can we please be patient with first-time promoters and see how they recify the situation in years to come? I mean who ELSE is putting their money and asses on the line to bring NYC something different?

Yes, I am clearly understanding that people who came from out of town may have had more inconveniences than us locals, but the fact of the matter is that they TRIED and will learn.

And to be honest, the mess-ups did nothing to ruin my weekend. I didnt go friday night, so, no big loss there, but saturday and sunday were just awesome with the beats. And this coming from a girl who likes trance. Once you got into minitek, it was a great experience. It was so nice to see different faces, different DJ's, and a comepletely different atmosphere than is typical in NYC. I was greatful for it.

Honestly, I wouldnt stand for the disorganization to continue over the years. but I am also confident that the promoters are going to learn from their first time experiences and continue to bring something new for us (which us NY'ers have been longin for). I think, based on how much fun the actual *EVENT* was, that it would be worth another try next year. however, I feel as if this is there first and only strike. The messups were so many that people will not return if this happens two years in a row. live and learn promoters!! But all aside, I have to give them props for finding new venues so quickly and at least giving us a place to go for our money. :)

regardless, the music and vibe was pure awesomeness. The outdoor/day events won me over the most. I loooved Matthew Dear (sp?) good god! loved it. (remember this is my first tehcno/minimal event, so I am still clueless about the names.....) And saturday, I didnt hear a single DJ that dissapointed. Driving beats and no bloopy-bloopy bull.

The techno bus ride between venues was CLASSIC and one of the best times I have had in ages. Screaming partiers going buckwild to music, yelling out the windows, cheering, eating fried dough, haha such a ing MOMENT! :) :) The bus driver kept yelling in the speakerphone to get us pumped for the next event!! haha! loves it! (quote of the bus ride: "F*CK American Apparel and the hipsters who wear it!!!!") ;) hahah!

Loved Studio B, although it was soo hot and the DJ before Magda made me want to put a gun in my mouth and pull the trigger. It was everything I have always hated about minimal: no flow, beats all over the place and slooooowwwwwwwww (blooppy bloop-water-dripping-type sounds). DJ's like him are the sole reason I have never gone to a minimal event. good GOD, I couldnt wait for him to end. The only music I didnt care for the entire weekend! Regardless, I am glad I tried something new because the other DJs were on point.

Sunday was def my favourite day. Partying with the canucks is always a show, and nothing changed this time around. :) I heart them <3 To my virgin cribby, NYC and public transpo wasnt nice to you but you are the coolest in dinosaur ever!!) and my jenners, I love you to death! Nice to meet the new canucks as well :) :) I love the lil asian chick (sara?? simone?? lol) so cute, and I wanna just put her in my pocket and carry her around with me! haha! good times peeps!
music was on point and I was in pure smiles the entire time.

btw even more shenanigans on the subway ride home (the rides after the parties have proven to be comeplete show shenanigans). Tons of partiers the whole way home singing and chatting and taking pics ;) ("I PITY THE FOOL!!!") SO many inside jokes and quotes and nonsense from this weekend. (count dracula, jenn freaking out over a fan, sesame street, the sketch box, sugalips, etc.....) just what I needed.

Overall, I had a great freakin time. I missed most of the mishaps due to pure timing, and I honestly believe that this festival could not only be HUGE, but even grow in future years based on the turnout. If the promoters get their together, it was a great feeling to know that the people WILL turnout for this type of event :)

^^ fun review!

Sad I missed it!

Someone on Resident Advisor, or Rhythmism said it best... It's not so much about how badly planned or executed it was this year... But it did a lot of other damage as well... The agents and managers of most of these DJs were horrified and it represented the New York scene in a horrible way. When a Core Event or Massive Event (or anyone) try and get some of these names to come back to NY (hypothetically speaking), the agency's going to think twice about a good price, or uncertain terms. Not to mention, a festival is not a trial and error thing... September 2009, if/when these guys try and plan another one, most of these DJs and agents are going to be thinking to themselves "not again".... Let's hope not :( I don't think anyone wanted to see this fail (except 2 or 3 dicks on this board and others), just giving my 2 cents... Let's hope it's bigger and better, or maybe gets taken over by another crew (Made Event?)...

Well you are one of a few who had a great experience.

There is NO excuse for the way this party was run. Almost EVERY aspect of this was a complete up.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. Good thing is they know what the turnout would be like and now they sort of know who to book and how much to pay. Its almost like Mini-tek took the risk for a successful Made party in the future.

oh girl I know! Like I said, my timing was perfect in which I was able to escape the MAJOR messups. I wasnt there friday night at all, so I missed THAT fiasco, and we didnt get there saturday til evening, so we also missed the delay from the morning.

I def would have been mega pissed if I travelled all the way to brooklyn and had to wait for them to open and THEN wait for that ridiculously unorganized line. The bouncers had no clue what they were doing, and having a check-list for the names is stupid. I mean, if you have a ticket and an id, why do you nede to look through 1000+ names to check me off? and then do it again the next day? and at the night venues? stupid! Again, my experience with the mishaps were minor, but I understand why others were pissed.

i will say there was a lot of bull$hit this weekend, but the time i was at the festival site in coney island it was amazing. great talent and greeat vibe!!! the real secret party was THE TECHNO BUS!!!! yes the highlight of the whole debacle. the guy said it good before total craziness , people out the windows, and everyone dancing, even the asian bus driver, dono, "NEXT STOP STUDIOOOO BEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" he would yell and then the bus would go bonkers. fried dough and blinking lights everywhere and pumpin mimimal mixes from the exit20 crew! i could complain and complain and yeah we were a little stressed out w/ the confusion and madness but we had a blast. the techno bus crowd was like no other total party moment and i think all of brooklyn heard us coming hahahaa. sick sets from afternoon coffee boys, heidi, camea, and jeremy calfield. only regret i have is how shot i am today.
