Cahuenga just south of Hollywood blvd.
Droog has thrown a few sick parties there, the place was also in the movie "Swingers" a while back.

The crowd that DROOG has been bringing fills the room very nice, but be wary, on other nights that "one of your favorite promoters" isnt throwing a party, every venue gets their hipster/electro/indie/mashup crowd..
For instance, my friend Chelsey promotes for her friend a electro/whatever type of DJ (a chick) and a hot chick at that.. (Cassette) that mostly brings that crossover crowd.. they hold down tuesday nights at The Room.
They have various themed parties and this guy that I know, Tommy does a Photobooth where all the hipster guys and girls get slutty with huge props and showoff for the camera..
other nights in hollywood, they do the same thing.. i read about these parties on myspace bulli's such as PYT fridays (see teh connection: Justice anyone) Thursday nights at Holly's (that place next to MNS that bridges the two sometimes. etc.

Know knows Semi-Precious weapons.. apparently that was all the hot going on last week on tue
so. all we're trying to do is branch out.. while the scene we know has plenty of nights.. people just want to party.. the avalon crowd (unmentionable, as its already been said above) has GOT to go.. |

and that... is why its totally NOT my crowd.. its strictly for the look, if its not the cool thing to do, be there.. etc. half of those people wouldn't be there. |

im gonna agree w/Clovis here!
the lineup @ Avalon is more my style
ive had some of my best nights @ Avalon, but the crowd diversity @ Vanguard is more of my cup of tea
but i hate that venue w/a passion so i refuse to go there (but Diggers last month was killer)
but last year's summer parties @ The Standard was the icing on the cake, especially the party w/Dollz, Adultnapper, & Mr C (i think one of the 2 didnt show up or maybe i was just too effed up)
i was looking forward to those parties this year, but to no avail
hope Richard brings it back next year! |

Eh, every venue has it's ups and downs. At this point in my clubbing life I much prefer the smaller venues, the big room stuff gets pretty boring after a few years :p
And what I always say re: the vibe, it is what you make it. There's no reason rude/gross people should affect the outcome of your night. You're not there to party with them, right? |

i never had a good time at vanguard. it has a nice patio and upstairs is cool.
avalon has a nice location. people go there for hook up. i don't think they care what is playing. i had fun even music sucked. i have been there for some rock shows too. they were cool.
i tend to like floor plan of avalon over vanguard.
in short, i avoid going to vanguard and any giant event. i wouldn't mind going to avalon if there is a good act. |
