the Honey lounge is so much smaller than the upstairs....will definitely cut back on the afterhours scene at Avalon in my opinion.

i think part of the issue as well is the noise...just no way to prevent the music from traveling down the block and with the building going up next door as well as the new developments at the corner at Vine i think Avalon would be facing a lot of problems in the future regarding noise infractions....so they just decided to put an end to it right now especially with the renovation of the Spider Club/patio into Bardot.

yup... Bardot will be a whole seperate club (owned by the same people though). they are going to try and market it as a seperate nightclub on Fridays and Saturdays.

so pretty much, 3 entrances... honey, main entrance and bardot.

Hey tommy I did post the artists based on when they will be at Ruby.
you can see all the flyers/dates at the website.

http://www.rubyskye.com/index1.html

95% of the time the friday artist plays LA saturday night.
Many times the SD artist friday, if they dont do LA saturday will play ruby saturday night.

get your LATA friends and make it up sometime.

the SFTA's(who are super friendly and cool) run the show at the other big club(1015 folsom)

I really don't think that's it. I've been hearing that one since I started wroking there years ago and all that happened was the club started staying open later and later. Avalon is allowed to get away with certain things because of the history behind the building. Again, can't say for sure, but I don't think that's the case.

its just my pure speculation on the noise issue.

i can totally see the people living at the Broadway or W calling in to complain if they can hear music at 5 or 7am in their open windows. if it hasn't happened yet it will soon enough. and for sure the people in the building directly south will complain. as you know there are rules about music levels and at certain times of the day.... they will get fined eventually. i don't think there are any grandfather rules about that (unlike their 24 hour operating license).

Like I said, Avalon (previously The Palace) is a landmark. Generally the buildings around it adjust the the club. And seriously...who lives right by hollywood and and Vine, or RIGHT NEXT TO 4 NIGHT CLUBS and expects peace and quiet? That's just dumb. IT'S F*CKING HOLLYWOOD!!!

heh - i agree with the idea that the residents should have known what they are getting into. though one could argue hearing bass at 6am on a sunday morning is not something one would expect.

i'm saying based on what usually happens in these cases is the new residents complain and eventually the club has to change.

the funny thing is some residents above S Bar in the Broadway are suing saying its too loud. jeez - you live above a bar, what do you expect.

i'm just pointing out what i expect to happen in the next 1-3 years regarding noise and Avalon.

A good source told me the upstairs is done. The Honey lounge will now be the only other room. I'm not gonna say for sure because I don't work there.

no, this is wrong. the remodel is continuing.

It's allowed to stay open later because it has a different license.
