I don't think you should have broken the friendship, but I also understand your point. I really am saddened by the fact that this state banned it.

Our state is the most populous state, has more people than that of Canada and a host of other countries, and has most of the high tech industry here. I think it still is.

Seriously I can't deal with people this stupid though. I can be distant acquaintances, but I can't be close with someone that thinks I can't marry another man. Wtf. That's like saying I should be friends with the white friend even though he thinks black people should be in the back of the bus. I'm not some guru whose goal in life is to be friends with people who oppose my views in order to gradually get them to like me and equate me with the "in crowd" to the point where I eventually change their view points. I've done that already. It's a pain in the ass to deal with these people and I'm sick of playing psychiatrist. I have better things to do. (fyi gehz...I'm not flaming you at all, just venting here.)

That just seems so wrong, to me. If the truth isn't enough to persuade voters to their side maybe their side isn't the side to be on.

I personally think that negative campaigning should be illegal. Whether it be for an initiative or a candidate. Stating the facts is not negative campaigning if it it is indeed fact.

(I understand you aren't flaming me. You response touches on good points)

But that is just as intolerant. So you are perpetuating intolerance yourself. There will always be people who think the opposite of what you do. If you were to kick every friend to the curb because their views differed you would have no friends.

Omg ur soooooo right. those whiney fags. Their equal rights can't ever be dealt with or argued for until we solve the economy, immigration issue, two world wars, hunger in Africa, get universal healthcare, redistribute the wealth to everyone worldwide, and find a cure to AIDS and cancer first. Gay people will just have to wait forever I mean for now until every other issue is solved.

Sorry to hear about that, I remember reading a while back that gay marriage had been legalized a while back in California. It seems like one step forward, two steps back. I hope it can be undone.

It can be, just not very easily.

sucks that it was done easily to begin with. its seems as if it took years and years and YEARS, demonstrations after demonstrations; protests after protests; signatures after signatures for men and women to be able to get married to the same sex....and what, a lot of people complained in a short amount of time, and made a ing poll out of this and WON in such a short amount of time?

is this the first time something for civil rights has gone in a step backwards like this (After a step forward was made)? i mean, not that i've really researched it a lot; nor did i ever live in any of these eras, but what about the following:

did blacks ever get a right to do soemthing, then have it taken away shortly there after?

did women go through the same thing?

i guess Jews did...but that was German Nazism...not free American, you know? (oh, and i'm not trying to make any connection between nazis and californians or people who don't approve of homosexuality...i'm just making a reference).

not that i want to lump the gay community in with these three groups (although there are similarities, there are bigger differences, i think...); but for just overall civil rights for ordinary regular old joes?

this all sounds like a mess...i can never really make good comparisons on ....i'm just wondering if something like this has ever happened before with other groups of people and their rights. :(
