Oi, oi, I never said Oasis was the most influential band of our time.
All I said was that even Oasis is more relevant than Guns'n'Roses!

Indeed, Axl Rose is more charismatic than the Gallaghers, I give you that. But, music wise, Guns'n'Roses did nothing but revamp a declining trend, which eventually found its demise a few years down the road. |

no Im just going by my taste. I still think GnR is influential though. they have nothing but classic song after classic song.
I grew up to them mainly because i had an older brother and i listened to whatever he listened too. but i will say this, for me GnR were heros when I was a kid and too me they will always be the greatest band in the world, right next to the beastie boys (License to ill was my first tape i was bompin out my fischer price boom box when i was 3 or 4). Soo what Im getting at was that GNR had a huge influence on me, to me they will always be the greatest. Theyre the only band that to this day and for 20 years straight, I can put on 4 of their greatest albums ever and play it right through for 4 hours straight without skipping a track.
It's just one of those bands to me where every song was genius. They were colorful and talented musicians, and I just wanted to make an appreciation thread for them |

First off, Eric was 7 years old when Appetite for Destruction came out and 12 when GnR's broke up, so why he insists on calling them the music of his generation is beyond baffling.
I am going to put this statement out there for all you U2 fans...U2 IS HORRIBLE. Relish in it. They used to be good, and somewhere during Discoteque they lost their souls and decided to be more irrelevant than dog .
Led Zepplin might be trendy for people to like nowadays, but guess what? they were far from over rated in anyone's time.
Oasis....where do I begin? quality guys, good music, but more infamous by their public antics and critiques of other bands than actual substance of music. Hell, they cant even beat out Blur for more influential music of a generation, how do you expect to pit them with a band like GnR in the grand scheme of things.

don't get me wrong I like GnR...
the fact of the matter is Izzy Stradlin made that band. His song writing and musical compostion was one of the best out there. His songs were always better then Axel's. The band went to the ter once Izzy left |

| GnR are a great band, and even though they weren't my generation of music, I understand that they made some great music. But really, to say greatest, or most influential is a bit far fetched. |

see KISS... who had a huge movement, sold out concerts all over the place, put together a string of albums that went platinum (all of which sucked though).... and they have got to be the most overrated band in history. God I hate KISS. The sad thing is, they actually believe they are gods of rock. |

By the way, let me make myself clear here once again and claim that I do not think Oasis is the most influential band there is. But, neither is GnR, that's what I'm trying to say. I don't even think either of them would rank among the top-5 bands of our generation, for that matter.
