huh?! dude punk rock was around way back in the 60's lol, and there is no such thing as grunge anymore.
like i said nirvana opened the gates for better bands then they were like pearl jam and soundgarden....but thats all they did. |

As a matter of fact, yes he is. He turned his entire sound and his production methods around as soon as he cleaned up from both drugs and alcohol and in the last few years since, has created more, better sounds and albums as well as embraced the torrent and internet communities for their clear dissemination potential, emancipated himself from his label, and gone independent to clearly show that he is one of the most enduring artists of our time.
Don't get me wrong - heroin/alcohol/sex/whatever the else Trent was an awesome Trent. Some of his best work was during those years when he was a depressed , The Fragile probably being his crowning work and The Downward Spiral a close second, but as they say, a flame that burns twice as bright lasts half as long and he was on a clear path to self-destruction, as quite evident by many of his songs.
Year Zero, Ghosts and The Slip are all ing excellent works of music though, that he has forged since cleaning up his act and has released all of them for completely free download - he is truly an artist, and one who does it for the music, not for the money. I implore anyone to check out these 3 albums, you can get them from either nin.com or torrent sites. |

Hell, they cant even beat out Blur for more influential music of a generation, how do you expect to pit them with a band like GnR in the grand scheme of things. |

Ok, nevermind, just read your new post.
But Green Day and The Offspring are like "punk"-lite. Don't get me wrong, I think I liked The Offspring back when I was like 11, but they are mostly trashy, pop music.
Punk is dead. And, just as Christianity was dead and reborn in Constantinople, Punk was re-born... in MSI! Disagree with me all you like... and maybe you'd have a point if you actually look at their audience, but Jimmy Urine is the the only truly punk icon I can think of still re-inventing both the sound and the attitude. |
