I did 58 and a half shots (well roughly) of vodka a couple months ago and blacked out and was apparently bashing my head against a wall.
I can control it though. :toothless |

remeinds me of a friend of mine from college. He got married about 6 years ago. While his wife was pregnant with their first kid, he had an affair with a lady from work. His wife and her side of the family are a little too far on the bible beating side of the spectrum. So after the dust settled, she basically told him that their marriage would get a 2nd chance if he went to some religious retreat for people with sex addictions, drug addictions, alcohol addictions, etc... where the focus was turning your life over to Jesus to be saved.
He disappeared for 6 months and went through it, mainly out of guilt I suspect and because he didn't want to be away from his daughter. Now he's like a zombie trapped in a cage... sure, his marriage was saved but he isn't allowed to use the internet without parental controls, can't use his cell phone unless he is at work, is not allowed to watch rated R movies, and lives this purist life that isn't him at all. Last time I talked to him (while his wife was standing there with him), he talked about how his life was so much better now that he had been saved, and how God talked to him and all this stuff..... but I know it's the biggest farce ever and he's just going along doing and saying what he has to in order to be around his wife. I can tell he is totally miserable but he doesn't have the stones to be who he really is... it's sad man. |

no but in all seriousness i wish you luck. it's all about moderation with these vices that we all fall victim to, whether it be pot or wine or coke or video games, etc... they are all escapes but it's all about your motive and frequency of the escape. just remember that. the human mind is more powerful beyond our comprehension and this is mickey mouse in terms of things we can "control". you are in control of all your actions no matter what.

funny, i never thought of myself as this either. but everything over the past 4-6 months really does point to it.
i think it all kind of started when i got a "new" job at my squadron. i was working M-F , 6am-4pm and that was it. i *finally* had weekends off. before hand, for the previous two years, i was doing shiftwork. 4 days on, 2 days off...continuously. i rarely had a true "F/S/S" weekend off. and because my schedule conflicted with some of my friends, my social life/circle was not very conducive to always going out every weekend.
so maybe i was taking advantage of having these weekends off...only took it too far. there's been a lot of other things going on in my life lately too that have rocked my emotional world.
when i think about it, i haven't been bored with life in a loooong time. |
