watching the gonzo-hewitt match right now. i hope fernando takes his ass down. other than that looks like a couple easy first round victories for the seeded players. waiting for a couple matches like
federer-safin and roddick-nalbandian (that winner will take on djokovic). looks like rafa should be able to waltz into the semis. would be interesting to see tsonga do well again but he'll have to get by murray in he gets to the quarters.

as for the ladies looks like the williams sisters are in the same half of the draw so no momentous final matches. although i don't think it'll be easy to get through to the latter stages of the tournament. my personal favorite player of 2008 dinara safina looks to be able to get to the quarters relatively easily where she'll meet ivanovic (rematch of last year's french open final)...i'm hoping dinara can push through this year and get her first major. although if she gets past ivanovic she's got to get past jankovic in the semis. both players did well until serena steamrolled over them in the semis then finals of last year's us open.

ah i love this time of year. my least favorite major but many stories begin here!

bah. I don't know if I could keep up with both threads. I'll give it a try. :(

i'll be flipping between hewitt-gonzo and lakers-cavs. So far, Hewitt holding ground. I think when Clijsters broke up with Hewitt, it really affected him emotionally, therefore ruining his tennis game.

don't worry neither can i tonight, have to get ready for work tomorrow then sleep.

also, hewitt kind of slide because of the rise of roger federer. never understood why kim dated hewitt since he always struck me as being a prick and she was supposedly the nicest girl on the tour.

anyhow can't believe this , set point hewitt. gonzo is making all types of mistakes right now.

2 things that bug me during the Australian Open:

1. Mary Carillo
2. The amount of times the commentators make a comment about the extreme heat. Can the organizers at least built a small half roof over the courts or at least close the retractable roof? If not, maybe move the Austrailian Open to a cooler month like March or April?

ah come on Serena. You put your bag on your shoulder while doing a press conference?

yeah i was wondering about that too...funny how the journalists were more concerned about her going to church than her match. don't think she'll win it again but have to see how she's playing against a good player. i know everyone hates her but i love her style of play...she eats people alive, it's fantastic.

Lol, it's Melbourne dude. Sure, it might be 40C at one point during the day, but it could be snowing 3 hours later :stongue:

The players are athletes though. Part of being an athlete is being able to cope with the weather, where ever they happen to be playing.
