Good point. I believe the hierarchy goes something like:
Singer > Guitarist > Bassist > Keyboardist > Producer > Audio Tech > Lighting Tech > Roadie > Drummer
:p |
Producer > Engineer > Singer > Guitarist > Bassist > Keyboardist/Drummer
These days, singers are bankrupt without a good producer and mix engineer behind them. If your talking about Frank Sinatra or Mariah Carey of the 90s type vocalist, then i'd agree. But most music these days, the Producer is King and do a good job at making the music valuable than any vocalist. A good producer will make records that sell with any vocalist. An amazing vocalist with a poor producer, won't create anything amazing. |

He was talking about who gets the most girls because of music, not who's most vital to the musical process.

"trim"? are you living in 1985?
By the way the list or hierarchy is wrong. Tommy Lee gets the most in his band. |

It was just a joke, ya know? Anyone who has ever been in a band knows that the golden rule is to always make fun of the drummer. :stongue:
How do you get a drummer off your doorstep?
Pay for the pizza.
What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend?
Homeless.
What does the average drummer get on his IQ test?
Drool. |

I know, I know!
How do you know a drummers at your door?
If you leave him there his knocking keeps speeding up.
How do you know when a drummer is at your door?
He doesn't know when to come in
How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?
None, they have a machine to do that now. |

Get your hardware needs first, learn your monitors and equipment well, make good music, room treatment last. |
This is ridiculous, in my opinion. What is the point in buying expensive monitors if the acoustics of the room are raping the FR?
Acoustics and monitors go hand in hand - if you have monitors, then don't worry about acoustics. The OP has good monitors, but they are being let down by the acoustics. |

At this point, ridiculous would be given the situation in this thread is to burn money on sound treatment. Have you heard the mixes he posted? I don't think hes at a level that room treatment will make much difference in his mixes. He needs to learn his monitors first and learn how to mix using what he has. The bottleneck isn't room treatment in those mixes. A nice synth and some outboard compressors will put him on a better path to making good sounding music than wasting money on room treatment will. Besides he has decent monitors, he can get away with the lack of room treatment, why throw more that way when other things need upgrading?
Maybe you should read the OP again? There is a spending budget here. There are things he already has for creating music and things he doesn't have yet. He wants to buy a pricey Analogue Synth as his main interest, with that a proper compressor or two would be the best companion. Room treatment doesn't even come close to the equation when money, timing, needs are addressed. At the end of the day, OP better buy something cause we spent all this time lol. |
