I gave it a listen just right now. Don't ask me how, where I got it, I just got it.

Not really liking Fentiger, Narrier and The Curlew. Too conceptual for me. He does a good job breaking apart from traditions but sticking to the 4/4 ruins the surprise effect imo.

Castle Rising on the other side has a very groovy feel that I appreciate. Simple yet very effective.

The Turtle has a very nice thing going through its second half.

Not a huge fan of this future release but the good stuff is good. Hit or miss imo but it's up to you to decide what tracks fail or succeed.

Is this ty early review theme going to continue, with Gui Borrato's album some dick waver came running with early review, similar views, but was off the mark by quite a bit. The Nathan Fake tracks I heard on Holden's Igloo mix were sick, so I guess ill wait till its out.

You're right, I should have waited to have everybody's opinion so that my opinion would corroborate with yours.

I'm not a reviewer by any means, I just thought it would be nice to have a second opinion.

If you want a real committed one-sided review read this:

Fentiger, Narrier and The Curlew go ing nowhere. Nathan was obviously trying to do something different but it fails quite miserably. The groove goes nowhere in these tracks, it's total in' chaos. It's like some in' robot pushed the random button with a 4/4 kick going all along. You could take out those three tracks and the release would even be better. The asyncopation in Fentiger is ing terrible. It's like if Nathan made the track on the fly, didn't even relisten to it and said " it it's going to be on my EP people will like it".

I don't see Narrier being played in any kind of set as it is so musically disturbing. The rolling bass becomes total rubbish as the track goes at the same rate, the high pad is ing annoying. Good thing the track is so short.

The Curlew features a 8 bar pad loop with little variation. As Ted Promo said, the track would have had sense if it lasted longer and had more content.

With Castle Rising, we finally get to the good stuff. A killer intro with white-noise percs going all over the place. We get a catchy bass, a nice gliding patch into something beautiful, unpredictable and somewhat familiar. The progression in this track is just remarkable. Not really DJ friendly but a James Holden remix would get DJ support from all over the ing planet, that's for sure.

Basic Mountain brings the release to its level but not as low as Fentiger. The percussion in this track ruins the vibe, this would have been a great track if it had more rhythm to it, more variation. A nice attempt by Nathan but then again, the high pads being way too loud ruin the track. People would get ing ear tired in two minutes.

And now I get to the ing "Turtle". Well we've heard it before so nothing unexpected. Sounds too much like an old video game sound track to me but that's just me. I only like the second half, no I LOVE THE SECOND HALF because the real production work is there. If Nathan would make a mix with that second half and release it, it would set the roof on ing fire.

Here it is for my ing review. You didn't like it or don't agree with it then don't ing read it.

:D

The idiocacy and ignorance hits the last apex and breaks ceilings not yet created. Your review ing sucks, and your idea of music, its purpose and use sucks harder, kick rocks instead, because you ing suck at what you just did. You know exactly all about what Nathan Fake is doing with his music, why are you giving reviews of things you dont know about? :haha:

Sampler has leaked all over the net, so just google search it and you'll find it.

Well it is TECHNO, man. Can't listen to a Techno album expecting much melodyzz. Nice overview though, I can't wait for it.

Not true, there is such a thing as melodic techno. The dawn of techno (regarded by many as Rhythim Is Rhythim aka Derrick May - "Strings of Life") had no shortage of a piano and synth strings sequence to timeless effect. More recently, Luke Slater's "Love" is another with nothing short of heavenly pads throughout.
