I liked this comment best;

Give me a ing break... welcome to the future. EVERYONE KNOWS that as a musician your mechanical royalties from record sales aren't where you're going to monetize, its your peripheral products/activities/services that are going to make it worth your while.

In Angello's case? YOUR MASSIVE ING BOOKING FEE.

Boo hoo hoo hoo cry cry QQQQQQ.

i can't believe how many posters in here are missing the point! .....That file sharing music online is hurting the up and coming producers and in all reality the whole industry especially in the realm of electronic dance music, as such in this year of 2009. Yes, he may not be the best spokesman for this cause, b/c it's quite evident that he's doing great without the money he's loosing to pirated tracks, but it's still not kool in my opinion to pirate music online. Support the artists, engineers, promoters etc, etc.. that make this happen for you all!!

I thought the steve angello drama was when someone said one of his tracks weren't "bangin' enough" and he went off on some rant about he purposely made the track to be filler...

maybe it was steve lawler? anyone remember that?

I think you're the one missing the point dude. My gets pirated left right and center and I am not complaining... if anything it makes my music more accessible and helps to generate more attention for me.

Instead of crying about how you're losing money from physical copies, take a step back and ask yourself how you can harness people's desire to access your music for free. (Because, Face it - this is not going away.)

It gives you a perfect pull to focus people's attentions. Use your music to get people out to your shows, to pay attention to you on a regular basis.

It is 10x harder to get the focus of a fan for the first time than it is to retain their attention. Grab them with some free music that may ultimately drive them to invest in your cause.

This is -NOT- a crisis that is killing the MUSIC industry, this is a phenomenon that is killing the business of selling CDs. For anyone to say otherwise is simply untrue and you're completely missing the point. If that is your mindset you will miss the big opportunity that is presenting itself to independent artists and amateur musicians all over the world.

It has NEVER been easier for new artists to attract attention, and if done properly, generate revenue.

i have yet to see a website where tracks are one dollar! i would be buying a lot more tracks if they that were the case and i know a lot more ppl would do the same thing.

ppl hav always found a way to illegally copy music going back to the days of copying ur older sibling's dance mix '95 cassette lol :o
