It gives you a perfect pull to focus people's attentions. Use your music to get people out to your shows, to pay attention to you on a regular basis.
It is 10x harder to get the focus of a fan for the first time than it is to retain their attention. Grab them with some free music that may ultimately drive them to invest in your cause.
This is -NOT- a crisis that is killing the MUSIC industry, this is a phenomenon that is killing the business of selling CDs. For anyone to say otherwise is simply untrue and you're completely missing the point. If that is your mindset you will miss the big opportunity that is presenting itself to independent artists and amateur musicians all over the world.
It has NEVER been easier for new artists to attract attention, and if done properly, generate revenue. |

Very brave of you to come on here and slag me anonymously.
Its people like you who ruin the dance music community in Toronto. I've never claimed to be as Big as Steve, or have chart toppers.. that's a load of bull and you're just trying to put words in my mouth.
You can all go ahead and continue to be short sighted and not look at the big picture... see how far that gets you in the long run.
I'm doing just fine thanks and progressing at a rate that I am happy with... and I'm just getting started. It must be nice to know all the right people and have the cool friends vince but, last time i checked we're both playing a number of gigs @ WMC this year.
Seriously. The douchebaggery exhibited by the s in this community is a mirror for everything that is wrong with the Toronto scene. |

I'm sure you're paying for yours too... I didn't participate in this thread to brag about myself - I spent my time trying to encourage people to monitor industry trends and look at the big picture.
If you want to ignore all of the substantial comments I've made and focus on one sentence where I mention that my music is pirated that is your choice... typical bull from the s that hang out on this forum. |

it is every one else in toronto that does not listen to your music that ruin the toronto music scene i suppose. I guess you need to change your business model, your stuffed animals that are supporting your music from your basement clearly is not working. |
