I'm going to make my last post in this thread and leave it at this...

Not sure what the figures were in Canada, but in the U.S. last year there was a record number of units sold (1.5 billion units), mostly thanks to digital track sales (about 1 billion songs). Album sales are dropping, and that's hurting a lot of labels because of how much profit they get from an album vs. a single digital track. But the facts show people are paying for music, and they are doing so in record numbers.
Has anyone considered the reason why labels/artists aren't doing as well in terms of sales as in previous years is because there are a lot more labels and producers thanks to the lower cost of entry into the industry? Anyone with a computer can make a track or start their own label.
With more labels and producers making music, the money that people are spending on music is being spread around to more sources than ever. The big four record labels used to sell 82% of the music, but that percentage is dropping because people are discovering music from smaller labels and spending money there. |

Very brave of you to come on here and slag me anonymously.
Its people like you who ruin the dance music community in Toronto. I've never claimed to be as Big as Steve, or have chart toppers.. that's a load of bull and you're just trying to put words in my mouth.
You can all go ahead and continue to be short sighted and not look at the big picture... see how far that gets you in the long run.
I'm doing just fine thanks and progressing at a rate that I am happy with... and I'm just getting started. It must be nice to know all the right people and have the cool friends vince but, last time i checked we're both playing a number of gigs @ WMC this year.
Seriously. The douchebaggery exhibited by the s in this community is a mirror for everything that is wrong with the Toronto scene. |
I didn't even know you produce...I'm just trying to figure out your argument. |

as much as I hate people publicly posting tracks on their sites for download without consent from the artist/label, there IS something worse...ohhh yes there is...
There are several sites out there that rip tracks old and new (basically gather them for free), and charge users for downloading the tracks (anywhere from 20c to 60c)...
now...who the says its ok to make money off someone elses work that they acquired for free? |
