ok...but you're using them for free because they are being made available to you for free. That logic doesn't apply the same way with file sharing. |

| i just don't like that there are artists out there that are screwing themselves as well as others in their respective fields, so to say by "normalizing" the idea that music is free. I do not agree with downloading music being socially acceptable in this year of 2009 and the fact that you are perpetuating this behavior pisses me off. straight up. No one else settles for this situation in any other industry. All other trades in the world command cash for their work. Period. |

They are free now because there is an infrastructure in place and a business model to support it.
The recording industry cannot stop file sharing.
Therefore, the recording industry should put an infrastructure in place and develop a business model that works in today's environment.
The alternative? Cling to your old physical copies/units model and a slowly eroding profit.
It is really that simple. |

When did I ever say I didn't want compensation for my work? What I am trying to say is that you need to look at the bigger picture. There are a variety of horizontals and verticals you can derive your profit from. You and most of the other people here are being incredibly short-sighted and close-minded.
Is innovate thinking *really* that rare these days? |

You guys should understand there are always exceptions.. I'm sure the new Prodigy CD will sell very well... not as well as earlier albums of course, but still... it'll be a larger money maker that most of the stuff you guys probably download/make. |
