Great, thanks Liberals! I love being taxed to death.

The Building Industry and Land Development Association released a study yesterday suggesting harmonizing the taxes would cost new homebuyers $2.4 billion more a year – and add $46,676 to the price of a new home in Greater Toronto.

I cant get over how so many ppl complain about paying more for gas..
Heh, its at its lowest level since i moved here and its currently at approx $1.42/L.
This is taking into acc't that the avg salary is waaaaaaaayyyyy lower than what ppl make in Canada or the US.

Ex. :
i make roughly $25 000/yr which is all for the same job in Canada or the US,
and you can hardly live a fabulous life of that there as well.
the avg person make $11 500/yr here

Whats the avg Canadian make?

Do the math (which i wont), but its easy to see in relation to our pay, we pay MUCH MUCH more for gas here and
ppl still find a way to drive cars everyday and et by in life.

But....complainers will always complain heh

...and what kind of effect will this have on the price of houses...

Apparently the average house will cost $10,000 - $45,000 more...

Taking from some article:

For instance, if you purchase a new home that home ‘s purchase price is subject to the 5% GST. So if you buy a new home for, say $400,000, the builder is obligated to tack on an additional 5%, or $20,000 in GST. Under the HST the government of Ontario would be able to tack on its own 8% tax raising the cost of that home by another $32,000.

But it isn’t just homes that would fall victim to this new tax, it is a wide range of other services that are currently only subject to the GST. Paying legal fees to a lawyer? The lawyer must charge 5% GST. With the HST, the lawyer will then be obligated to charge 13% in HST. Same with accountants, psychologists, architects, engineers, and a whole slew of other professionals that currently only charge the GST.

Like I said Jay...the Liberals have been in bed with the Conservatives for years.

The world stopped being black and white before our times.

With this great news....it's no wonder people aren't rushing to buy land in Canada. Anyone with some common sense will look elsewhere.

no thats because you don't get it.

our relation with gaz and cars is way different than in Croatia or in Europe in general.

You guys drive less distances, have smaller cars and most importantly your mindset has always been set on high gaz prices.

You can't up gaz prices here without people complaining. People use it much more in average than Europe.

Imagine if you told the French that their bottle of wine would go from 2-3 euros to 6-9 euros like we pay it here, they would go mad because they consume of it much more than over here.

(and we're not talking about much greater distances here, and the greater reliance on cars for travels within a city)

oh by the way... we shall call Ontario, New Quebec...

all these things have been like this over here for a while... including PST on new houses, gaz, etc.

+1 plus in France they would shut down the entire country in a strike. Like what we need to do here. Give me a good reliable economical and fast transit system that covers most of the country and then we can talk about taxing gas to death. Until then the government can shove it.
