They do. But they also live in different economies than we do. The balance of things makes it work for them. In the grand scheme of things, I'm pretty sure we're ALL ed. |

Except here we dont have the transit infrastructure. And we are a bigger country. We need cars and gasoline more than they do |

How on earth can you say this? European economies are SCREWED. 20% unemployment in Spain. You're telling me that's a balance? |

We are headed that way... Canadians constantly look toward europe for economic inspiration. Socialism DOESNT WORK! |

It depends who you ask. Communist countries are ed too, look at China and Russia. None of the models are working right now. Everyone exports something and exports are down everywhere, plain and simple. Add in ty banking decisions or governments with too much debt and nothing else really matters.
Canada is doing remarkably well with the system we have. It's not perfect, but there's a lot it has going for it relative to other countries around the world. |

I mean for those that have jobs. Not that the countries themselves are doing great, economically. I was just speaking to the fact that the gas is more expensive in Europe, but that they live in a different economic reality than we do, and so, yes, while it's expensive. That doesn't necessarily mean that their 1.42/L gas is the same as ours, in relation to the effect it has on your personal budget. |

Three cheques, totaling $1,000, will be sent out to eligible households. The measure will be formally unveiled when the Liberal government details its budget Thursday afternoon in the Ontario Legislature. |

being able to write it off doesn't negate the added costs to them...which are simply passed on the the next level |

And the alternative is? AIG? GM? Corporate Socialism? |

Well, fancy that. For me it's 70 L, and the average ski trip easily eats up more than half a tank; same with a couple of bike trips. Lucky for me I live reasonably close to the office, but I'd still conservatively estimate that the PST will cost $500 or more.
And yes, I can afford it. The real problem isn't how it affects individuals, it's how it's going to affect the economy. Higher taxes causes inflation. Combine that with a recession and you have stagflation. Bad, bad, bad.

Must we copy someone? Is it against the law for Canadians to think for themselves, and perhaps say: Hey, we're not going to help you incompetent f*ckers to piss away even more shareholder money, but we're not going to ass-rape every working schmoe either?
