This is ing retarded...If this causes things that are currently GST only to have PST applied to it then this is just one huge accounting headache. Currently, GST registrants can get that amount refunded but not so with PST.
It's interesting to see where things are going - up until 2009 registered Ontario corporations had to submit an Ontario income tax form and another to the CRA. Now, in 2009, they've combined the two so you only pay tax to the CRA (federal) and it's then passed back to the province after the fact.
Also, for those registered for RST (PST) who are slow submitting their returns, the Ontario govt, since January, now takes it upon themselves to estimate what your sales 'should' be. They then send you a bill and ask for you to pay what their estimate is REGARDLESS of accuracy. It's then up to the registrant to file an appeal to get back the difference.
I guess the province needs cash.
On a side note, I love how this gets introduced in a whirlwind.. if it happens, it's even more brainless than the GST reduction - would've been better off keeping that 1/2% and throwing it towards cities for infrastructure projects/community services. |

Just heard that households making under $160000 will be getting a $1000 bribe...
And houses under $400000 will be exempt from the HST as well as things like diapers and gem hygene products... |

They have to help people swallow the tax pill. But when you think of the long term ramifications of this tax hike, especially since it will increase gas prices, prolly looking at 1000-2500 depending on your income/lifestyle. So yeah everyone enjoy your 1000 cause its only one time and the government never GIVES money.
I said it earlier. Dalton and Dwight are ing dougebags, hopefully the public outcry will stops this dead in its tracks.

Ppl do not drive less distances here...I used to think they do till i actually moved here and see that its just not true.
You're right about driving smaller, more fuel-efficient cars tho fer sure.
But the MOST important thing you mentioned is that the European mindset has always been set on high gas prices.
To me, still, the fact is that a much higher % of a Croatian's salary is needed for gas than a N.American's. |
