Yes, because heaven forbid Canadian Citizens in Canada get something without an immigrant speaking up.

Next thing you know those immigrants will want free healthcare too.

Frenchie
Because that's in two years and not now?

See, CANADIANS get something in CANADA and people whine. I don't get it. What I do get is free food.

Think of it as being free for the first 50 million customers to this country.

you sound too elitist my friend..
why can't we be just classified as residents of Canada? we all were immigrants at one point, or your parents were

I'm not whining, just pointing out

I don't think she's being elitist. She's right. Yes we were all immigrants at one point, but we became Canadians because we wanted the honour and priveledge of being Canadian and the privelege that belongs to citizenship. Citizenship is membership. It's normal everywhere that guests don't get full priveledges as members. I don't expect a free golf cart and a cheap round of golf when I tee off at a private golf club. Membership means true dedication. Even for a golf club or a fraternal organization, you must show it and prove yourself, and that takes time, but its priveledges can't be expected immediately.
Frenchie
lol elitist? Bahahahahhaa.
Uh,no. Wrong. You're pointing out that" Oh, hey, I live here, I should get it" It's a simple, fun thing, for Canadians because it's Canada's birthday. If you really are upset, which you are or else you wouldn't think what I'm saying it "elite", I have to laugh at you. IT's like saying " excuse me, I'm straight, where is my HEY I'M STRAIGHT festival". No one is demoting you, no one is saying you're not welcomed. It's ONE day for ONE thing for ONE anniversary. Wait your two years and then you can frolic to mandarin for free. 22$, my friend. The price of citizen ship.:stongue:

We are. Some of us are also classified as citizens. They're not mutually exclusive.

It's like moving in with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Just because you're registered under their address doesn't mean it's your place, or that you're married. There are a bunch of other things you have to do in order to get those benefits.

Sure you will.. you will be a Canadian. :)

There are loads of contests and free things that I would love to enter or have but I can't because I am not American.

I think this is a really fun idea... and a great way to celebrate Canada's birthday. Go Mandarin.
