Maybe the sound in guv is fine, but it's just your hearing that's not good?

:D

clearly it's just fine, consider others agree ;) pre-reno's sound = good, now = crap

Babe it's got nothing to do with the reno's...

It's an old system that gets beat up week after week....

It takes A LOT of work to keep it going and unfortunately there are malfunctions sometimes...

And you really shouldn't blame Tim....

You have no idea what that guy goes through and has to put up with. But believe me when I say he tries his best...

I'm just stating what I hear, so to speak :) I always preferred and was never disappointed by the sound in KH.. the main room - not so much
a distinctively good night was Cosmic Gate & Marco V, I remember thinking how good the sound was that night
the last 2 times Schulz played, and A&B - I found the bass too heavy, which makes it hard to hear lows and vocals especially

nevermind the fact that I can't deal with main room without earplugs anymore

I've noticed the same. Either my hearing is increasing it's sensitivity, or Guv's mainroom is getting louder and louder every time I go. I remember one time when it got to about 4-5am, my ears were actually starting to hurt. I tried moving around in the club to find a better spot where it wasn't piercing my ears, but I couldn't find one... so it forced me to leave sooner than I wanted. There were other nights where I thought it was going to happen again, but it didn't... it did come close, though.

Yeah I have to wear earplugs as well for the guv main room. It's just way too loud which destroys the sound. The guv is decent at lower volumes, I don't get the need for the club to turn up the volume when the main person gets on. It's very noticable too.

Its the guest who does the volume up turning.....

The DJ mixer doesn't directly control the sound output of a big club - it just feeds audio into the real system, which should be limited to a sane level. Every sound system has a master volume, so the DJ can only push it within that range.

Certainly Guvernment isn't the only place this happens - it's been done at Footwork too - but the Guvernment has done it constantly and flagrantly for years and years. Part of the problem at any club is likely that DJs are behind the speakers, far away from the bassbins, tucked against a wall, and/or otherwise sheltered from the dance floor, so they really have no clue just how bad they're making it; it's up to the club itself to figure out reasonable limits ahead of time.

the mixer has a master volume. there have been enough times when the guest dj has been told to turn it down but they dont and tim has to lower it at the amps but the dj ends up cranking the gains. blame the guest dj.
