I've been reading and reading this thread .. I just love Sasha and Digweed and I'm no more a minor so I'm pretty much free to go anywhere now and I finally have the chance to see both these guys sunday night. But none of my friends want to come as they find that event 'way to gay' and they say they dont want 'their asses touched all night by homosexuals'. I'm really open to gay people and have no problem partying with them, but I've been told that this event is really awful if you go alone without girls (is it true?) and that many guys will come dance with you (is that true aswell?).
Oh please fellow TA's help me, I RLY RLY RLY want to buy my ticket this week to go and see S&D but what can I expect as a 18 year old guy (me) going alone at Black and blue ?

I hope my post offends no one, I'm simply looking for answers to my questions and hopefully have positive answers!

alex.

To answer your question , I have always found that in Montreal especially .... gay men can tell 99.9% of the time who is straight and who isn't. If your straight and it shows nobody will bother you.

Ok once in a while people can get too trashed from the night and maybe get a little out of control but you have to expect that some people occasionally will not act normal at these big parties.

Just be respectful to people and you won't have any problems. If someone goes to far or is rude just tell them your not interested and walk away...problem solved.

Walk around the venue and you can easily tell which groups are straight and which are not... go whereever you are comforatable. It's very simple.

I have had many of my guy friends tell me "Why do you goto that rave? It's too gay..." but they don't realize what they are missing.

Besides , when there are many gay men around us "straight" guys really stand out to the girls...which is a VERY good thing! LOL :-)

don't you hate it when your post takes forever to load and then you end up double or triple posting? ;)

It's a pertinent n00b question he asks but yeah, your last sentence is so true, Lift, and I think more and more straights are catching on...beside the gays tend to stick together for the most part on the dancefloor... literally too :p.

Last year was still about 60-70% gay I thought but the dj lineup this year will probably discourage a few gays to attend en masse, not to mention Stereo is back in business. At this rate, gays will eventually have to flock to the BeB house room for their truly gay Montreal massive :p
Trancission
point is if ur homophobic don't attend and start bitching on how gay this event is..stay on the sides, you wouldn't feel it is a gay event and if ur ass got grabbed a couple of times, don't take it personal :haha: :haha:

Exactly , honestly guys it's 2009....it's time to get out of the stone age...we have already discovered fire a long time ago and we have already invented the wheel.

Homophobia belongs in a cave next to the people who still think the world is flat and the people who think you can identify a witch using trial by drowning.

And frankly , If you want to be in Montreal you need to open your mind a little. In my opinion Montreal is the most evolved and refined city of Canada and if you are not then you should stay out of the city and go back to your bunker in the woods.

(sigh of despair). if you're homophobic, dont go to stereo, dont go to piknic, dont go to parking, dont go to bal en blanc, dont go to black and blue, dont go to the grocery store, to the dep, to the SAQ, to school, to work....... never leave your house. there that should do it. and ill make sure Divers-Cité organizes gay pride in your living room next year.

Awesome line-up,

Black & Blue is a gay event, and one of the most famous in the world. BBCM is an organisation that gives a lot back to the gay community. That great line-up will attract a lot of straight people, but if you are offended by homosexuality, sweaty shirtless men, this is not the place for you.

Black & blue is one of the last place that hasn't been raped by douchebags and I hope that people will show some respect in their comments. Because each year has is share of stupid posts.

That being said, Black is known for having outstanding visual set-ups, performances, and you should have plenty for your buck.

this is what Mr Creator said at beginning of this thread, very good post.

Alex, don't feel intimidated by the posts as you asked and you did so with a disclaimer. Many of us are just shaking our heads at the attitudes of others, especially since gays pretty much started these massives, but your questions are warranted in any case. Get yourself a ticket, skip sleepy Seaman and go to Stereo afterwards and you'll be fine :p
SummerWolf
well... this place never changes...

Look, go to have fun. You wont get rape, its like going out. If you tell someone to leave you alone (in the case they do touch you), just say no and it should be fine. If you are a bit scared, try to hang out near girls or stay on the outside of the big crowd. They eat like us, they breath like us. They are normal people too.

All in all, you should be fine and have fun. if you go in the mindset of being scared, you wont have a good time. Go there to dance your ass off to the music and djs you love and let the rest follow its course. You will be fine
