You don't have to worry about gay. They actually throw the best party you ever been to. This said, went the last two years with 3 of my guys friends, we stayed more in the front just after the chinatown (sorry), many girls where there, partying just like us, super friendly, and we had a wonderful time at B&B. If you dig the music bro, don't hesitate, you'll never regret it! |

I've been reading and reading this thread .. I just love Sasha and Digweed and I'm no more a minor so I'm pretty much free to go anywhere now and I finally have the chance to see both these guys sunday night. But none of my friends want to come as they find that event 'way to gay' and they say they dont want 'their asses touched all night by homosexuals'. I'm really open to gay people and have no problem partying with them, but I've been told that this event is really awful if you go alone without girls (is it true?) and that many guys will come dance with you (is that true aswell?).
Oh please fellow TA's help me, I RLY RLY RLY want to buy my ticket this week to go and see S&D but what can I expect as a 18 year old guy (me) going alone at Black and blue ?
I hope my post offends no one, I'm simply looking for answers to my questions and hopefully have positive answers!

Although I never considered myself homophobic to any extent, I must admit there was a bit of a level of uncertainty as to what to expect for my 1st B&B, seeing this is a "gay" event. Checked it out in 2004, and since then, every Thanksgiving is booked way in advance for this very well-organized, world-class production massive. I got approached before, but kindly tell them I'm straight and wish them a good party, and it's all good. I've met the nicest people (and close friends) at B&B. It's almost like Stereo x 100 (in size). I like that it's a gay event, keeps many narrow-minded, juice monkeys, posers, neg attitude types out of the party. I've always found the dj roster to be top-notch and the vibe completely electric and mature.
My advice to any open-minded EDM lover : you HAVE to check this party out at least once. Then form your own opinion.
PS - I can't freakin' wait for Sunday ! !

Just don't place yourself smack-dab in the middle of the dance floor where the bears are. Stay along the outskirts, kind of like being at the Bell Centre and dancing along the boards.
And btw, the Black is pretty much a 50-50 ratio of gay-straight. And as for your friends, that's what I love about the Black, it keeps this type of "close-minded" crowd away which adds to the vibe.
Overall people understand the word "no" at this event, unlike some of the "sharks" that attend some other events and clubs. I'm sure the ladies understand what I'm saying.
Go, buy a ticket. |
I agree completly, and speaking from experience. I have been at regular clubs and remember a night where I had some random guy standing beside me and starting grabbing my ass. And when I asked him to not touch me, he said I was standing right beside him so it was his right to be grabbing my ass. Shortly after a couple bouncers friends of mine at the same club threw him out :)
But Black and Blue has got to be one of the best events I have ever been to. Very well organized, great crowd, the bookings haven't disappointed me, and the vibe is awesome.
You can def tell the difference between the gay and straight side. Anyhow as Lift mentioned later on in this thread "gay men can tell 99.9% of the time who is straight and who isn't. If your straight and it shows nobody will bother you"
To alexgea:
Its 2009 the new millenium last I heard. Gay marriage is now legal. If you don't have an open mind and aren't willing to have an open mind about this event, or any others for that matter. Don't come to Black and Blue, or Bal en Blanc or anywhere else for that matter. Get a ticket dance your ass off and walk out with a new perspective on life. |
