What is ruining trance is the digital era. It's no one labels fault. It's the artists fault, and the fault of an era. The artists are at fault because they are stupid idiots who think it makes you a god or find some because you got a track released. So they pump out a ton of underdeveloped ideas and crap repetitive sounds and hence the world of trance is bloated with . |
Supply answers demand. If you wan't to blame someone, blame the people who like the music you don't. :p

Indeed. |

| My older tracks I was learning my way around production, and part of that was trying to create things through my own stereotypes of what music should be. Now I produce purely by expressing what I feel, carrying out the vision of the things that I see and hear, the images I want to share with the listener, and moods I want to set. I always think about the listener. At this point, im "in the zone." I can do anything, it took a while though, its a process of learning the paint brush well enough so that I can translate whatever is in my head into music. I always think about the dancefloor and the psychology of the listeners mind and how the ideas and sounds might impact the listener and the dancefloor. |

Don't think too much, will inhibit originality alot.
Better put yourself on the dancefloor, dancing alone... ;) |

Originality and creativity is the easy part. The hardest part of making music is the mix, which I continue to improve on and learn new things weekly, mostly on my own through discovery. Discovered some neat mixing tricks and mix philosophy this week :D |

That's nice. You missed my point though: Can't go too far in thinking about how something will affect other people, that's where invidual tastes come into play. |

Nah I saw your point clearly, but thinking does not hold me back at all. Thinking? Planning? Envisioning? I wish more people actually thought about the things they are putting in their music. How do you make music without thinking? But then again, you misunderstood the meaning of "thinking about the dancefloor and thinking about the listener." There was no quantity/amount given in what I said, so I dont know how you came up with the idea "thinking too much will inhibit originality..."
Not thinking will result in poor music imo. So thinking inhibiting originality? Come on that is ridiculous and unproven. Maybe if you said "thinking inhibits productivity", then you've made somewhat of a point. I mean there is a place for thinking and there is a place for doing. Anyhow, whatever works for you, do it! lol |

Talking requires thinking
Thinking inhibits flow
Experience inhibits thinking
therefore
Talking inhibits flow and decreases experience.
Talking about how good you are is easy and doesn't require experience. |

Uhm... From the first paragraph it seems that you understood perfectly what I meant, so you should know why I said that.
If one makes music (thinking) to please a large amount of people, one has to cut down on originality. It is precisely why pop music is so generic/blatant/formulaic. You can't have lots of wild ideas and please a large popularity. |
